This review is from: Bell Bottom Blues (MP3 Download)
So much has been written about "Dereck and the Dominos" (the official title of the album is 'Layla and other assorted love songs' but it was not prominent on the original album cover the way other titles are presented - so everyone at the time just called it by the band's name) that I think I'll pass on a long exposition. Suffice it to say that it is one of the finest rock albums ever created and part of that golden era of rock between 1965-1975. Of course "Layla" was the big hit, while "Bell Bottom Blues" is more a close second from this album. Personally I like them equally. However, "Layla" so overwhelmed the other songs on this album that poor Eric Clapton was forced to play it at practically every concert he ever performed for the rest of his life. It was so popular in the midwest, that the radio station KSHE out of St. Louis used it as their intro theme music all summer long in 1971.
