4.0 out of 5 stars Okay Product, January 2, 2011
This review is from: Bell+Howell 7788 Secure Pro Keypad Alarm System (Tools & Home Improvement)
Though its true this alarm is loud, I like having it. Its worked fine for my family for years. True, you can't stand too close when it sounds off. When going out the door, try putting your hand over the noise area to mute it a little. They probably made it this loud to accommodate the size of ones home. This way a person can hear it if they are in an area that's far from the alarm. It's also great to have when you have kids home. You can hear them if they are leaving or coming home. No sneeking in or out without the parents hearing them.

I purchased this as an alarm for my front door. The "chime" is as loud as the alarm, so anytime you open the door, the entry chime blasts in your ear and wakes the neighbors. It's an annoying product you should AVOID!

This is hard to review as the alarm is loud enough to wake the dead, not too sure it hasn't here. However, my star rating comes down on functional frustrations. It worked fine for awhile (about 2 months) and now I can't get the delay part of it to work so I can leave with it still in tack. It is supposed to work so you have two minutes to leave before it goes off. But the second you open the door the 10 second warning starts counting down. Great when it works, but frustrating to get it to work if you ever can. Not worth the money in my book.
