5.0 out of 5 stars Natural light to read by, any time of the day.
We love the Bell & Howell Sunlight lamp. My husband and I, both Senior Citizens, have one at each of our computer stations, as well as one by the reading chair.

The goose-neck allows the lamp to be placed so that it illuminates the keyboard and the book or document one is typing from. There is no glare, and one's work is never in shadow. The light is...

1.0 out of 5 stars Nice bulb, cheap lamp
As someone else mentioned above, the switch went out on my lamp after about a year. Thinking it was just a short-lived bulb, I ordered two new bulbs. Now I have to decide on whether to blow $40-some bucks on another cheap lamp.

Does anyone make a decent lamp that uses these types of bulbs? It's sad that the name Bell and Howell is now associated with...

The light is focused in the area where it is needed, on the keyboard, crossword puzzle, needlework or reading material. The Bell & Howell Sunlight Lamp makes reading a pleasure again, free from eyestrain.

This light is a must for older men and women as the light-gathering capability of their eyes declines.

3.0 out of 5 stars Great Light Poor Lamp, March 30, 2007

The best thing about this lamp is the light -- it is excellent for reading. The light, which is much different than my overhead incandescent light, seems to minimize eye strain. However, the materials of construction are flimsy and poorly toleranced -- and the shipping price was about 25% of the total cost.

Great light, poor lamp.

GREAT LIGHTING FOR READING, BUT VERY POOR DESIGN. FIRST TIME I ASSEMBLED THE PRODUCT WAS WOBLEY. THE PART THAT SCREWS TOGETHER TO THE BASE NEEDS TO BE STRONGER MATERIAL.Bell & Howell® Sunlight Lamp, FLOOR LAMP

1.0 out of 5 stars Bell&Howell Reading Lamp is Junk, Only lasts for 2-3 years, April 11, 2008
The Bell and Howell reading lamp is made in China. We bought one and it only lasted 2-3 years. We thought the fluorescent lamp went out on it so we bought a replacement bulb but that wasn't it. We tried replacing the ballast and that didn't work either. This lamp while it provides good reading light is CHEAP, CHEAP, CHEAP. Works for awhile and then fills up our landfill. Its a good lamp if you don't mind having to replace it every few years.

This is the best lamp, I have bought in a long time. Great for sewing or enjoying a good book. Light is cool and soft making reading easy.
The adjustable neck even lets you use it for painting doors in old homes.
Excellent product

3.0 out of 5 stars Good light but shoddy quality, April 24, 2010
This review is from: Bell & Howell® Sunlight Lamp (Kitchen)
The light emitted by this Bell Howell Sunlight floor lamp was excellent but after a year or so the pole came out of the base and would not stay in when the lamp was moved. About a year after that, the lamp ceased functioning. We assumed the bulb had burned out but purchasing and installing a new one made no difference. The internal and external power cords tested good but one of the capacitors in the ballast (located in the base of the lamp) was bulged indicating ballast failure.

5.0 out of 5 stars Bell & Howell Daylight floor lamp, January 12, 2006
I bought two of these products and they are everything advertized. Bright, crisp, even light. I am an avid reader and this product is a huge help to my middle-age eyes. I am purchasing another unit today.

The lamp provides exceptional light. This is my second purchase of this same floor lamp (the other is over a year old), as I wanted one upstairs as well. When first assembled, however, the lamp would not work. It would remain on for only a few seconds, only to go off. When we tapped the bulb, it would go on, again for only a few seconds. Ultimately, it stopped working, period. I sent an e-mail to the vendor. I never heard back. My husband ultimately removed the bulb and re-inserted it. It has continued to work since that time, which is a good thing inasmuch as the vendor has never replied.

5.0 out of 5 stars I give it 5 stars, October 18, 2007

my mother purchased this lamp for me and I use it frequently. It really illuminates an area and is a great reading lamp. Unfortunetly my daughter was recently sent home from school with the dreaded lice. This lamp was the next best thing to natural sunlight when it came to searching her hair for nits. The school is looking into purchasing the lamp for their head checks.
I dont know what I would have done with out it. Highly recommended.
