Continue capturing the action long after the sun has gone down. With the built-in Infrared LED night vision system, even the darkest images will stand out in stark contrast. When the IR mode is engaged, 6 LED lights activate around the lens to allow for shooting in total darkness. The advanced infrared sensor illuminates your view and captures video and photos with precision and clarity.
The large 2.7 inch LCD screen display allows for playback and viewing of your media. It gives you excellent control when framing your shots. The LCD offers brilliant color, resolution and contrast even when viewed at an angle. The screen is highly durable and easy to see in any light with a matte, scratch-resistant coating.
Also features 11 different pre-programmed scene modes, so that pictures are shot in the most optimal and accurate color. The 'Smart' Scene Mode analyzes the shooting condition and automatically enhances the scene with one of 10 pre-programmed settings. The Face Detection and Smile Shutter settings automatically captures faces in a scene, and captures a picture once a smile is detected on the selected subject's face.
The 5X digital zoom and automatic ISO settings allows you to capture memories with ease. The one touch movie mode allows quick, crisp recording at DVD quality level at 30 FPS.
The rechargeable lithium-ion battery seamlessly charges using the USB interface while syncing your videos and images. Use any SDHC card up to 16GB for endless recording. The macro switch conveniently located on the left side, allows you to switch between macro and portrait photography. The Bell & Howell S7 Slim is also PictBridge enabled, which allows for wireless printing of your photos with any PictBridge compatible printer.

Just purchased and tested a brand new Bell & Howell SB7 night vision camera. Small form factor and small video and sound performance. I really wanted this camera to work for my ghost hunting but it is the worst video and sound quality out of any camera I have owned in the last 8 years. I had a friend who had the S7-B and was rather impressed with the photos. So I ordered the S7-R for myself. I was interested in the IR feature because I belong to a paranormal investigation team. It comes with a 2GB memory card which is ok for starters (I ordered a 16GB card to go with it). The 2GB card will give you a total of 30 minutes of video with audio, but you won't be able to listen to your video until you upload it to your pc (which is fine with me). To eliminate blurred shots I got a monopod to mount the camera onto, it's light weight and easy to carry around on an investigation. The camera has 6 IR led's which lights up a room rather nicely. I just wish I had checked out the Bell+Howell S7 camera kits before ordering I could have gotten a much better deal. Shipping was quick got it 3 days early, about 5 days after ordering. Forget eBay they take too long to ship there products (I hate that). Now if you are going to shoot outside at night you may want to get an external IR light along with a monopod, the more light the better. You will see the S7 with either -R, -B, -S. That referes to the color of the camera be it Red, Black or Silver. You can charge the camera with the power adapter or plug it into a USB port on your computer. The only problem is trying to contact Bell+Howell directly, I found what I would sware was there site but they don't know anything about the S7. I want to order a back up battery for it. All in all, it's a good camera and takes sharp imiges.

I am going to describe my experiences (good and bad).
The good: It is absolutely amazing that I can have night vision for this price! The slide switch to initiate IR/nonIR mode is really easy to reach and use. Night vision videos are great! They're not blurry at all and the range of the IR lamps on the camera reach at least 30 feet. Such an awesome device!
The bad: This is quite possibly the worst regular (nonIR) camera I've ever seen. Even though it is a 12MP camera, the images are horrible if you move slightly. If you hold the camera perfectly still (which is necessary to do any time after 4pm due to the lighting), your pictures will come out fine. If you are standing on a sidewalk ,it can be 7pm (during May - so still bright out), and take a picture of people walking, the people (which happened to be men and women with walkers) will be blurry. The lack of a focus half-press shutter button irritates me. To take a picture you just click the shutter button. It focuses on whatever it wants to focus then it takes the sub-par picture.
The camera is extremely light. Usually that is a good thing, however, it gives it more of a "don't drop this or it will break easily" vibe. The buttons on the back next to the LCD screen are very awkwardly placed. If you are using night vision in pitch black, there's obviously no light...therefore, you can't see what buttons to push. You have to memorize the buttons by feel and association prior to going into the night to take pictures. If you cup your hand over the screen to redirect some of the light from the screen, you can see the buttons.
Night vision pictures are very blurry if you are not holding the camera completely still for more than 2 seconds (or until the picture appears on the LCD to view it).
The flash on this camera is decent at best. It takes at least 8 seconds (I've counted to 15 seconds on a new battery) for the flash to recharge before taking the next picture. (Like I said, worst non-IR camera I've ever dealt with).
To sum up everything:
In regular (non-IR mode), horrible and blurry if you or the subject isn't standing completely still even during the day. The FLASH is sub-par. The time it takes to recharge between pictures is a huge issue. This camera feels like it is ready to break (fragile) at any time. It feels almost hollow. The lack of features and selecting buttons in the menu bothers me. Some buttons share functions - which makes selecting and navigating a pain. Also, the lack of a focus half-press shutter button irritates me. To take a picture you just click the shutter button. It focuses on whatever it wants to focus then it takes the sub-par picture.
In IR mode, awesome video. It's not blurry. Very awesome to have whether it is to ghost hunt or make your own home videos. Pictures are not so great unless you hold perfectly still for a couple seconds until you KNOW the picture has been taken. Hard to find the button you want when it's dark. The buttons aren't illuminated by any light on/behind the button. You have to learn the buttons perfectly to know which you want to press.
Overall it's awesome to be able to take great videos in pitch black and photos if you hold still. Horrible regular camera. They shouldn't even have the regular camera as an option. It's an insult to real/legit 12MP cameras. IR photos/videos completely outweighs the 99 problems it does have.

Don't waste your money.
The good: Well it works as shown in the pictures. the visible light camera is adequate.
