******************************************************************************************

Sometimes life can be a real witch.

Meet Maxie Duncan. Your average 23-year-old blonde. If you can call being wealthy, gorgeous, and knowing what the future holds at times, average.

After her fiancé blindsides her with a breakup at their favorite restaurant, she leaves Maine for a shot at being Hollywood's new 'it girl.' There's only one problem. She's never acted a day in her life.

When a big Hollywood director sends her packing, she realizes if she wants to stay in L.A., she may have to become a normal girl after all. But normal has never been in the cards for her. Strange things keep happening wherever she goes, a red-eyed shadow no one else sees is stalking her, and to top it off, she may be falling in love again, with either the bookish guy next door, or Hollywood's hottest leading man.

But everything isn't what it seems. Someone's keeping secrets from her. Is it her new friends at the apartment building she moved into? Or is it Ryan Everheart, the actor who wants to sweep her off her feet? And why are her feet suddenly floating off the ground?

It's enough to drive a girl insane. All Maxie wants to do is ride off into the sunset with her one true love and find a killer pair of Manolo Blahniks on the way. But how's a girl supposed to focus on a love life and shopping when everywhere she turns someone or something is trying to kill her?

1.0 out of 5 stars Not worth your time. September 30, 2012

The characters in this book are poorly developed, wooden, and unrealistic. There were several times, when I went back a page to see, if I had missed something. The story makes no sense and has no flow. That is pretty hard to do, when writing about other-worldly characters. If I would not know better, I would have thought, it was written by a tenth grader in high school.

3.0 out of 5 stars cute book - had potential November 12, 2012
Format:Paperback
this was a cute book. quick and easy to read. there were quite a few grammar issues and i caught myself re-reading some lines because things were not always described very well and it got a little confusing at times. if more time and energy had been put into the story and characters (and editing) it could have been much better.

2.0 out of 5 stars Great start....needs work September 21, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Amazon Verified Purchase
First the good stuff. A good plot and interesting characters. This has the potential to be a really good book  and probably a really good series. But....it is NOT ready for prime time. Far too many major grammar, spelling, punctuation and basic writing errors. This premise is right up my alley and if I hadn‘t been jolted out of scene after scene by stupid mistakes that should have been caught long before the rough draft was finished, I can see this easily being a four or even five star book. I can‘t imagine a writer...certainly not an editor...missing the glaring dozens of errors that slapped me in the face as I tried to read. There‘s just no excuse. These very well crafted characters deserve better!

More About the Author

Melissa L. Webb was born in Visalia, California, in 1978. Her parents moved to Northern California three and a half years later.

Melissa joined police explorers, worked at Wal-Mart, and got engaged (and unengaged) all while in high school.

After high school, Melissa quit Wal-mart and decided to travel the country in a small van packed with one dog, one cat, and her best friend. After three weeks of seeing the real world, she decided to come back to Northern California and once again settle into a real job.

Since then, Melissa has been a supervisor at a grocery store and a home care giver. She's also become an ordained Cleric and has presided over two wedding ceremonies.

Melissa is still currently living between the ocean and the redwoods in Northern California, with her chihuahua, Buffy. She now spends her days tutoring students.
