I would not recommend this helmet. My 14 month old pitched a fit each time we tried to put it on. This helmet is bulky and does not secure snuggly. We purchased an adjustable helmet from a local bike shop ($35) that was much lighter and fit snuggly--it also had air vents to allow his head to stay cool. I wish I would have saved the money from the red dog helmet and applied it to the second helmet.

My son is just one year old, however, we wanted to start him out from the first that when we ride bikes, trikes, etc. on the sidewalk we wear helmets. The adjustable straps keep this helmet firmly on his nugget, even though it's a little big, and the extra foam pieces are nice to help customize the fit.

This is not a fancy helmet, but he's not Lance Armstrong (yet).

This helmet was definitely worth the price. Fits my toddlers head great and has all the safety features of the other ones that I looked at for 1/2 the price.
