The call waiting feature lets you place the current conversation on hold in order to answer a second incoming call. If you have subscribed to voicemail service, a new message indicator lets you know when you have messages waiting. If the incoming caller has caller ID block or is calling from an area without caller ID service, the CI30 displays 'Private' or 'Unavailable', respectively. You can mount the unit on a desk or wall, whichever is most convenient, and adjust the LCD contrast level to provide the best view. The CI30 also comes backed with a one-year limited warranty.
What's in the Box

Simple and straight-forward,

Its hard to locate stand-alone caller-id boxes these days; and this one is one that would be somewhat run of the mill a few years ago. It comes with an included AC adaptor, and will run on batteries, but I bought it because of the AC adaptor. I hate putting batteries in these things. The display is pleny visible enough and has adjustable contrast in case you view it from a weird angle and its not visible enough.

Caller ID with more than I'd ever use,

Caller ID boxes are great (as long as the caller doesn't have their ID blocked). The only problem is that there are only so many usable functions surrounding caller ID, so most manufacturers seem to think that they must pack everything concievable into these boxes. Being able to review the last 99 incoming calls loses its appeal after the first scan through. Since we don't receive many obscene calls, knowing when each call comes in is of only mild interest. And with only so much space on the top of this box there can ony be so many buttons. So, keeping the instruction booklet next to the box is necessary especially if you only casually use the thing.
Don't get me wrong, this is a nice device and is fairly attractive. And I'm not the sort who has a VCR flashing 12:00. But someone should make a basic $10 box that brings up the ID info when the call comes in and then has a FWD and REV rocker button to scan through the last... oh... 20 calls or so. Period. Overall a good box at a good price if you don't already have phones with caller ID build into them.

I have had other caller IDs in the past but I like this one the best. I especially like the fact that it has a power supply and you don't have to keep replacing batteries.
