I just got this helmet delivered to me about 20 minutes ago.
The design is great, and it fits my head perfectly. They provide extra pads (thin and thick, medium is the defult) so you can adjust. If you don't like the BELL logo on the helmet, you can easily take it off as it is just a sticker. Mine left no sticky residue or anything, and it looks great. They provide you with an extra sticker, too.

This properly protects my forehead, as well as the back of my head.
If you are not sure what size to get, go to their website and they tell you how to properly measure your head size, and provide a size chart. That's what I did, and got a good fit.

I've used a lot of bicycle helmets over the last 30 years. The Bell Faction is the best commuting helmet. It's one of the only helmets that you can put a rear-view mirror onto. The helmet seems safer than because the vents are smaller, the shell is thicker, and the helmet comes down further in the back and on the sides. I've never felt hot wearing this helmet. I wouldn't want to wear it on a five-mile climb on a 90-degree day, but for riding around town it's fine. In the winter I tape over the vents and stuff the vents with foam. Below 20 degrees I wish it had a fleece liner, but next winter I'll figure out how to make one.

This helmet is comfortable, and when I street skate wearing it, I forget I have it on my head. Mine is charcoal gray, and when I look in the mirror with it on, it makes my face look better than with it off.

EDIT: THREE years later, at the age of six, and my daughter is still wearing this helmet, with room to grow. I am thrilled that this will be a helmet that will last her for many years! /EDIT

I wanted to buy this helmet for my 3 year old daughter, but didn't know whether to get a small or X-small. So I found a website which gives the head measurements that correspond to the helmet sizes. Then I just Googled an inches to centimeters conversion site.

Sm: 51-56cm (20.1 inches - 22.0 inches)
Md: 54-59cm (21.3 inches - 23.2 inches)
Lg: 58-63cm (22.8 inches - 24.8 inches)

Going by the other sizes, I can GUESS that an X-small is probably going to be around 19 - 21 inches. My daughter's head measures at 50.8cm, so I got a size Small so she can grow into it.

I can't rave about it enough. She got the pink helmet with the blossoms on the back. It has white straps. The pink is a bit of a richer, darker pink and not as pastel pink as the picture would suggest. I am very satisfied with the color, and that it isn't Pepto-pink.

The helmet's fit is *exact* in regards to the cm. There are three sizes of padding: thick, medium/normal, and thin. The helmet comes with the medium/normal padding already installed. When she put the helmet on with the installed padding, it was just a tiny bit too big. So I put the thickest padding in and the fit is *perfect*. They also include thinner padding for when the little noggin becomes not-so-little. The velcro which holds the padding in is strong and does a very good job of keeping the padding in place during play.

The adjustability on the chin straps is VERY versatile. There are three different places where you can tighten or loosen it to fit: the chin strap, and one on each side below the ears.

This is THE best bicycle helmet I have ever had. I ordered it for in Baghdad Iraq, because the ones AAFES sells are junk. I can't believe how comfortable it is. It is VERY cushy in the top. It makes me feel much safer with the side protection. Other guys keep asking me where I got it, so I know it looks good too!

UPDATE: Having suffered a bike accident (road surface-related, not vehicle-involved), I emphatically recommend choosing a full-face bicycle helmet, such as a BMX- or downhill-certified one (certification counts, as the guards on some full-face helmets are purely decorative). My helmet protected my head very well, but its open-face design of course could not prevent facial or dental trauma. People will laugh at you when they see you in what they think of as a motorcycle helmet, but I would have walked away from my bike accident if my mouth, rather than just my head, had been protected.

Although the statistics I've read say that front head impacts are common and rear ones, rare -- hence the importance of not tilting a helmet back, which would leave the forehead exposed -- I do feel safer with the Faction's extra coverage at the back of the head.

A helmet is useless if it comes off during a crash. The strap adjustment process for the Faction is annoying, and the chin strap loosens quickly, especially if used to carry or hang the helmet. Nevertheless, through a combination of: measuring my head and selecting the right base helmet size, choosing carefully from among the interior pads (each piece comes in three thicknesses), adjusting the straps, and checking them frequently, I have gotten the helmet to fit snugly and yet still comfortably.

I have found the ventilation to be adequate, if not perfect. I use a better-vented Bell Impulse helmet when very hot weather is expected.

The Faction IS big, but who cares? Safety, not fashion, is its purpose.
