I purchased this light set. The handlebar light is pictured on the package exactly as it mounts, with the three lights vertically oriented, When it's on, riding in dark, one of the LEDs illuminates the pavement right in front of the bike, and the other two lights illuminate further down the road. The light mounts sturdily in just a minute or two. The light seems well made, and the easily accessed 3 AAA batteries (which power the light for 65 hours, it says) can be changed while the light is on the bike. The tail light is the same design, with a red lens, and mounts horizontally on the seat post.

I also road-tested the light. I have some fairly expensive ( > $100) lights on my road bike, so I wasn't expecting much, but I found these entirely adequate for riding my woods path, which is pretty much total darkness otherwise. The light was sturdily mounted, didn't move, and provided good illumination. (OK, it doesn't really compete with the $100 light, but that thing looks like an approaching motorcycle...)

Anyway, for a good price, I can afford to buy these for all my kids' bikes, which is what I was looking at them for, and I think I just may mount a set as backup lights on my road bike as well.

I'm not always impressed with Bell gear, but in this case, they have a winner. I haven't been this impressed with a Bell bike product in ages.

Good deal.

Yes the front light mounts "sideways" when you mount it on the handle bars, not a big deal. Its actually better this way cause it takes up less space. If your thinking about mounting that front light on the center post between your handle bars and front tire know that it will probably not fit. Now once you get past how it looks, you will see that these are great quality lights that are bright and have amazing battery life!

I had this light for a year or so, bought at Kmart for about $20 and just came across it here looking for replacements. The lights start out very bright and assuming you don't forget to turn them off at some point they will last a good long while. After some time on both the front and the back light one of the nuts embedded in the light case for the screws of the back mount came out. I could still keep them on by tightening the remaining screw but had to watch out for any jolts or hard landings that would knock them loose. The back one died due to rusting in the battery compartment, not weather proof as claimed, apparently.

I like those lights a lot - I have 3 sets (for three different bikes).

They are quite bright, work well, and easy to install.

I like how they do not have a clip-on mechanism - the clip-on makes it really easy to steal a light, and I honestly do not like to disassemble my bike when I leave it in the parking lot.

Yes, the front lit is mounted vertically, but I do not see this as an issue. It is a safety light, not a headlight. If you need a proper headlight, capable of illuminating road in front of you, move on to something else.

These lights were bright and attached easily, was quite happy with them...then it rained and now they don't work. Not a good product and I can't believe they claim to be waterproof.

Very inexpensive for a complete light set,
the headlight is very bright and has good visibility both for you and others, and has two light
modes; blinking and on.
Also, it does come with a small 4mm Allen Wrench for mounting. Mounting is very easy, simple and has rubber inserts if you have thinner bars. It is a nice light set for the price.

This light set does require 6AAA batteries; which you will need to buy seperately.
Last, but not least; if you have a rear bike rack or plan to use a rear bike rack
I would suggest buying another tail light, because the one with this set won't be
able to mount on the rear racks. It's specifically designed to fit the seat bar.

Other than that, it is a very solid product.

I bought a few sets from WalMart, they were cheaper there $14.96 than any of the sellers on amazon. I put three aaa batteries in each and press the on button twice for flashing mode and they are rated to last 130 hours Front in flash mode and 140 hours Rear in flash mode. Do they make you visable at night? They do absolutely. Its much too bright to look at the fromt white lite so do not let kids play with them. I have an extra set just for walking at night or to keep in the car in case I have to stop and change a tire. I would turn them on flash mode and set them on the car roof or truck facing the traffic coming from behind. They are definately visable. Walmart cannot keep them in stock, they sell so well.
