Product Description

Product Description

The Bell Sweep R Racing Bike Helmet is constructed with a fusion in-mold microshell, which utilizes the process of bonding the helmet's microshell to its EPS foam layer, rather than forming the two separately and taping them together later, to provide a sturdier, more solid helmet. This helmet also utilizes an in-mold bottom for durability by bonding microshell material to the lower half of the helmet. The Sweep R features Bell's GPS (Geared Positioning System) fitting method to deliver an easy one-hand adjustment for the maximum in fit and comfort.

The Bell Sweep R also features internal reinforcement through a composite skeleton that fortifies the helmet in the same way rebar makes concrete stronger, and cam-lock levers that make it easy to adjust the straps around your ears. For your comfort, this bicycle helmet includes 20 channeled vents that are specially designed to force cool, fresh air in through the front and around your head, while flushing warm air out of the rear ports. Bell's Sweep R helmet comes in three sizes, weighs 280 grams, and complies with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission's safety standards for bicycle helmets.

Helmet Tips--You Should Always...

  • Wear a helmet when you ride
  • Wear your helmet low in the front to protect the forehead
  • Fasten your buckle and tighten your chin strap
  • Check your adjustments every time you wear your helmet
  • Inspect your helmet regularly for signs of wear or damage
  • Wear a helmet designed for your activity

About Bell
More world champions have worn Bell Helmets than all other helmet brands combined. From Grand Prix racing through the Indy 500 to Olympic cycling, Bell helmets have played a vital role in protecting sportsmen and women for nearly 50 years. Bell began as a small auto parts store in a suburb of Los Angeles. Growing under the leadership of Roy Richter, Bell became a leader in safety equipment for auto racing, motorcycling, and then bicycling. His commitment to creating great product through a close connection with the sport, along with his trust of and care for the people who worked for him, turned Bell from a one-man operation into a multi-million dollar enterprise. His legacy lives on today in Bell's commitment to racing, quality and innovation.

Product Description

Bell's signature GPS fit system insures an optimal fit, while the Fusion In-Mold Microshell and bottom wrap along with an internal reinforcing skeleton make the Sweep R strong yet svelte. Dialed race graphics accentuate this design masterpiece.

5.0 out of 5 stars best ever, July 8, 2007

This is unquestionably the best helmet I have ever owned. It is comfortable, cool , and the fit can be made perfect. I have a very small head, and I appreciate the offering of a size S. The adjustment in the rear makes it so easy to get the perfect fit.

5.0 out of 5 stars A helmet with ventilation!, September 30, 2008
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
I ALWAYS overheated with 70s-vintage helmets (up to that last time I got hit by a car) and was reluctant to wear a brain bucket as they really killed my enjoyment of riding.

I don't fantasize about the Tour de France any more, but I DO take notice of the helmets they wear.

Biking to work meant getting back on the bike after a 30-year hiatus. I decided that the "extra" bucks to protect the ol' maraca was a worthy investment, so I checked the range of helmets available without price as an object. I selected the Bell Sweep R as a compromise between cost - it's easy to spend a LOT more - and ventilation performance, and have been most happy.

It fits my head well (I'm a big boy, and I wear a BIG hat) and the ventilation works extremely well. That up-turned back end (a DA in 50s-speak) is key to creating vacuum to pull air through the hat, and it works great.

One complaint - I REALLY wish the straps were about 2" longer. I'm almost at the end of it, and it still pinches a bit when I turn to see what's creeping up on me.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Buy, July 5, 2009
This is a great helmet. I owned an old (6+ years old) Bell, and I have always been a Bell fan. This helmet is extremely light, has an amazing fit, and very easily adjusts to get a great fit on my head.

I love the style of the Sweep R as well.
