I'll probably get the "LODGE" brand one.

So far it cleans up very nicely even with cooking meat and the spattering.

I've had no problems using mine in the oven or on the burner.

I received this as a gift and have used it on top of my electric stove burners to make soups and stews as well as cook and steam vegetables. The size is ideal to cook smaller quantities for a 2-person family such as mine. Although quite heavy, the thickness of the pot provides just the right amount of steady heat transferrence for slow cooking on my electric stove, and it's easy to clean. I do not like the inability to use the cover in the oven, and it is heavy enough that extra caution would need to be used to not drop or set it down too hard on a flat cooking surface. However, as a smaller capacity stovetop pot, it's just right.

I was ready to order this nice looking and seemingly quite functional pot, but decided to do some research on it first. I'm glad that I did because there was a surprisingly large number of one star reviews. No one recommended it either and many returned them to the stores.

Why? This is rediculous, but the top is not oven safe! The directions say for stove top use. Unbelievable!

I'll probably get the "LODGE" brand one. They are made in the USA too.
Lodge Color Dutch Oven, Island Spice Red, 6-Quart

It will be great for our winter stews and soups.

I called the mfg customer service line today.

#1 They are rude,
#2 If you need to replace any part of the pot under warranty...the handle, the top, or the pot, they charge you for shipping from California

Who wants to buy a product from a company who charges to replace warranty items? NOT ME.

This Dutch Oven has a nice shape, the enamel is very good, it's hefty and the knob is metal and replaceable. It's a much better product than the available in-store Wally World Tramontina ... especially the enamel. Instructions say it's oven safe to 400 but with the metal knob I wouldn't worry about higher temperatures. I've had no problems using mine in the oven or on the burner. It cooks food just fine. This Dutch Oven is a worthwhile purchase.

I just got this exact Dutch oven on clearence at Fred Meyer for $12.49(75% off). Box states it is oven safe to 400degrees. The knob is not plastic.
I can't wait to use it! Looks and feels just like the le creuset I have in a larger size.
