Both of my children (ages 8 and 6) found this beautifully illustrated book enchanting. My 6 y.o. in particular was inspired, asking if we could write and illustrate our own travel book about trips we've taken or are planning to take and immediately started asking me when our next trip would be. (She also started mapping out her own book -- what would be on each page, what pictures she would create or photos she would use, etc.) As a parent eager to instill in my children a love of travel and an interest in other cultures, I really like this book. I especially appreciated the use of Chinese words accompanied by the very helpful glossary and pronunciation guide and also the suggested additional activities (though we've not had time to try them yet).

If you think your young children are prohibiting you from exotic world travel, think again! Bella, a sophisticated yet sweet American girl living abroad, will take your family by the hand and show you how to voyage effortlessly and explore new cultures and fascinating customs. Bella promises to become the next adored character in addictive kid lit - just watch your young readers get excited about her adventures! Kudos to Stacey Zolt Hara for creating an intelligent and heartfelt series which addresses so many current parenting topics: globalism, mulitlinguism, and finding alternatives to Disneyland!

Bella's Chinese New Year is wonderfully written and beautifully illustrated to give us a sense of Bella's enthusiasm and excitement of celebrating Chinese New Year in Singapore. What a delightful journey it is to experience Chinese customs during the festive season through Bella's eyes.

As children increasingly become global citizens, the Travel with Bella series is a brilliant addition to any school and home libraries.

My four-year-old daughter simply loves this book and we are looking forward to future instalments of Bella's amazing travel adventures!

This a wonderful book that combines the day to day experience of a child living in Singapore with the celebration of the Chinese New Year. I love that it entertains us with Bella's carefree life while educating us with Chinese customs and language. This book is beautifully illustrated and captures the fun of the Chinese New Year celebration as well as the Singapore culture. The activities at the end are a bonus for those of us who love to do arts and crafts with our children.

We just got the book yesterday, and my 2.5 year old is already talking about it. Tonight, she asked to read it again as her only book before bed. The story is darling - and is a great way to teach about other cultures (and even the parents can learn something!). The illustrations are fantastic, too! You really can see all the food in the girl's hair. We can't wait to see where Bella goes next. This time, we want to go along for the ride.
