The lock and luggage tag looked real sharp and could catch my eye on almost any luggage carosel. Unfortunately, the two that I purchased failed to operate correctly. I followed the instructions on setting the combination very carefully and repeated it several times. But could not get it to work. So, I packed them up and returned them. Later, on another site, I saw directions for setting the combination which were materially different from those contained with the locks I purchased. Whether this would have worked, I unfortunately do not know.

There's a problem with locks you can program: if you accidentally swing the shank around at the angle required to reset the combination (say as you are removing the lock from the luggage), you can at the same time accidentally reset the combination. Or that's what I think happened. Lock no longer works. Can't reset the combo, can't get the lock to lock at all. It's now trash.

I lost my previous TSA lock when i was travelling abroad thus i was looking for a new one. This one looks so unique and pretty that i instantly wanted to buy it. I was concerned about the previous two super negative reviews though but since its the cheapest i can find of its kind and the color is so unique, i decided to give it a try.

I know how to set the combination on these type of locks prior to this, so i have no problem with setting the combination at all. But despite that, the instruction is clear and explicit enough for a first timer to do it right. So I am genuinely happy that this lock works perfectly for me.

and as an aside, if you messed up with your combination by accident, there is always a way to get the lock work again: set it to 000 and try it one by one....001,002.....there is only 1000 combinations 'anyway'.....and unfortunately, i had to go through this once before, but it was faster than I had expected....took less than 1 hour to get to the correct combination...if you think it is worth the time.
