Armed with nothing but her guitar, the blonde troubadour set out for the West Coast immediately after graduating from high school to pursue her music career. When things didn't develop as quickly as she had hoped, MoZella found herself decorating cakes by day and performing in coffee shops at night. All her hard work eventually paid off, as she was signed to Madonna's Maverick Records in 2004.
Following her Warner/Maverick debut in 2006, MoZella toured the U.S. with the Dave Matthews Band, Lifehouse, Five For Fighting, Daniel Powter, Michelle Branch, and Colbie Caillat. About this time, MoZella's single "Amnesia" charted on Hot AC across the country, and she performed on radio stations throughout the U.S. Her songs have been featured in several television series including One Tree Hill, Las Vegas, How I Met Your Mother, Bones, Wildfire, Lipstick Jungle, as well as many others. In addition, she wrote and recorded the song "Amazed," which was used in a national Mercedes-Benz television commercial.
MoZella has continuously stayed focused on finding new ways to further develop her signature, audacious style of songwriting. For the sophmore LP, MoZella enlisted the talents of Jimmy Harry, Tony Kanal (No Doubt), Marty James (One Block Radius), Tim Meyers (One Republic), Sunny Levine, Rune Westberg, and Smidi. Her arrival to her hometown label, Motown Records promises to be her biggest accomplishment yet. MoZella's forthcoming album, with it's big hooks, smart lyrics, and infectious beats, is due for summer release.

I first heard MoZella on the show One Tree Hill three years ago and ever since I've been obsessed with her music. She's got this ultra cool voice and extremely relatable lyrics. "Belle Isle" is most definitely, without a single doubt, the best album of the year! Here's the tracklist and how/why I love each song:
1. Freezing - what a beautiful song and such deep lyrics. She's singing to the point where you actually feel what she's feeling. 2. Stay - quirky little melody to a usually cliche song. I love it. 3. Luv Sik - feels like you're listening to a melody. 4. More of You - overwhelmingly the star of this album. When I first heard this song, I was singing it ALL THE TIME. and MoZella's lyricism is just amazing. 5. Manhattan - this song actually made me feel like Manhattan was this amazing paradise, a place without any faults. Its awesome. 6. Lets Stop Calling It Love - something you can snap your fingers to. 7. 4 Leaf Clover - a very earthy song, something you would assume old-school Jewel to sing or even 1999 Nelly Furtado. Great song of course. 8. Hurry Up & Choose - another star song. And it tells the story of a girl who's in love with a boy but in the way of their love is a girl, who the first girl doesn't want to hurt, but is becoming restless waiting for the boy to break up with his current girl. Relatable, right? 9. Uh-Uh - I love this song so much. Its about a girl who's fed up with her boyfriend's bs and now she's finally made up her mind and is done with the relationship. The chorus is made up of the boy asking her to come back to him but she says 'uh-uh' 10. Thank You - a lot of people may recognize this song from the Nivea commercial. A sweet tune with even sweeter lyrics. 11. Twilight Girls - simply amazing. very slow song, but extremely inspirational. My favorite part is "but God don't love you any less"

I have been waiting for this release for some time now. I have only recently (within the last year or slightly longer) discovered Mozella. I first heard a song by Mozella in a Nivea tv commercial some time ago - as I'm sure so many other people have also seen/heard. The song in the commercial is titled "Thank You," and I decided to download it on iTunes. Well it was at that time I discovered she had a previous album from 2004. I liked "Thank You," so much that I just decided to order her first album "I Will." When I received the CD and took a first listen I immediately fell in love with her playful, unique voice and the soulfulness of the music. I researched Mozella and over time found out she had signed with Universal/Motown and that an album was due out soon. Well the time has finally arrived. This album is great for anyone who is a fan of soul/r&b/pop music in general. I'd really have to say it is a combination of all three types of music. The lyrics and hooks are catchy and are so fun to learn and sing along to. The music has this retro, funky, almost "old school," sound to it. Almost like it's from a different time period in the past. It's a bit hard to explain, but it is definitely good. The song writing is great and production is just as good, if not even better. I'd say most of the album is mid-tempo, but the last song "Twilight Girls," is a beautiful slow song/ballad. It's one of my favorite tracks. Although, I really can't say for sure which tracks are my favorites because they are all so good. It's hard to choose! Every song is enjoyable and I think it's definitely safe to say if you are a fan of her first album and everything else that has come out since then, you will not be disappointed in picking this up and adding it to your collection. I am such a big fan and am looking forward to (hopefully) having many more years of music from such a talented, refreshing artist.
