This review is from: The BELLES HEURES Of JEAN, DUKE Of BERRY. The Cloisters. The Metropolitan Museum of Art. (Hardcover)
After reading "The Art of illumination" by Timothy B. Husband, I decide to get hold a copy of the Belles Heures facsimile. Wow, I am stunned! What an exquisite book, the color is vibrant and the gold simply shines! The pictures in Husband's book are more faithfully reproduced, but large numbers of them are only half pages. This 1974 Gorge Braziller facsimile shows full pages, and the decorated borders need to be there to see the true splender of the book.
