Positively Amazing...,

Online and in stores, I've probably bought 100 albums this year. This is in the top 2 or 3. It's like an electronic version of Keren Ann or Torrini. It's rich on a number of levels. It's amazing that SS does not yet have a huge following. Gosh, this is the first review! I guess I got lucky when I stumbled onto it. And you should too.

I was lucky enough to see Sol Seppy open a Sparklehorse show late summer of 2006 @ The Bowery Ballroom in NYC. We were there to see Sparklehorse. Period. After Sol Seppy I just couldn't pay attention to the music for the remainder of the evening. She (they) opened with "Human". "Hello, my name is human and I come frome love"... Sounds sweet and sappy, I know. We're all critics. More cynical every day. BUT....Sophie (lead singer, songwriter) believes what she's singing and after seeing her live, I beleive that she believes.
Sparse, gentle instrumentation at times, into a fuzzy electronic buzz/beat. The record keeps my attention and Ive turned many on to it to good reviews. Buy it and believe. You can purhase it through the Seppy website for about $18 shipped. Enjoy

The Bells of 1 2 is a wonderful album with quality songs throughout. As some have noted, it is faintly reminiscent of Mazzy Star but less dark and more structured. The music is plush and encompassing. I'm always disappointed when the last song is over. I still listen to it regularly and place it in the top ranks of my extensive music collection. Highly recommended.

Sophie Michalitsianos AKA Sol Seppy has put out an amazing masterpiece with this album. My favorites were Slo Fuzz, Injoy, Enter One & Wonderland. Her enchanting vocals has a feel that is very Mazzy starr "fade into you" kind of songs. Somehow the album feels like something you would be listening to with the rain falling outside and windows open, very ethereal indeed. Each song feels like you could get lost in it. Yet there is a lot of just that, and depending on your mood, you could just be in a serene moment for the length of the album or just want something a little more upbeat.

I love the lead vocalist's voice. After hearing Sol Seppy on the Radio, I have been downloading songs. I am very selective in which CDs I buy, and only buy them if I am sure that it is worth spending the money on, but it is time to buy Sol Seppy's CDs.
