"One of the most candid, refreshing and funny books on pregnancy that I have ever read. I laughed so hard at times that I had tears rolling down my cheeks...Humorous and candid."

Hudson Valley News, 2/12/2014

"A book for the expectant mother who needs a few moments of frivolity."

MediaMikes.com, 2/20/2014

"Jam packed with side splitting stories...The cool part about the book is that it doesn’t really matter if you have 1 kid or 10 or if you’re a guy or a girl. McCarthy’s book has a little something for everyone...Graphic yet hysterical stories...A fun quick read that both you and your significant other can enjoy."

"Like a gossipy girlfriend, McCarthy brings you in and makes you laugh; there's a certain comfort in knowing that even a sex symbol gets stretch marks and balloons to 200 pounds during pregnancy.... A must-have." --Booklist

"Jenny McCarthy is now the go-to girl for pregnancy." --Toronto Star

"Dishes dirt on giving birth that you never knew you needed to know.... [McCarthy is quite funny and, in the end, this is a celebration of motherhood." --Gotham

"You don't even have to be knocked up to enjoy [this book]." --Playboy

"McCarthy is undeniably crass but funny, and her candor and self-deprecation are refreshing." --Publishers Weekly

Very easy read and enjoyable!

Jenny McCarthy tells it how it really is to be pregnant....not fun and lots of gross, unattractive things that happen to your body.
J.M.
I would highly recommend this book to anyone who is currently pregnant, or who has had children!

This book was exactly what I needed after reading "What To Expect When Expecting." My anxiety was through the roof and I was for sure having a three headed baby. This made me come back to earth and realize women have been doing this from the start and its going to be messy. But, so is life. Cheers to making me laugh and at some points pee a little.

It's okay. This is one of those books that everyone gets excited about when they're pregnant because it's exclusive: You're pregnant, so you can relate... You're part of the club. Except even though that's the whole point of the book, I really couldn't relate. And honestly, it wasn't that good. The writing is poor, and no, I'm not talking about her crassness; I knew what I was getting myself into and looked forward to the humor. But it wasn't there for me. It's kind of like reading Jenny McCarthy's pregnancy diary and all I could think of was how nothing applied to me, because it's written in a style that assumes it should. One or two things made me smile here and there, but for the most part I felt like I was trying to rush through it just to get it over with. I only scanned over the last few "chapters", which are only a couple pages each. So if you're looking for a good read in your pregnancy, I honestly don't think this is it, considering I'm an avid reader and couldn't even force myself to finish it. I've read better material that aims to make light of pregnancy woes and this book falls way short of that. Just my opinion.

Pregnancy came as a surprise to me, as I'm sure a lot of woman can empathize with. I am young, just married and was taking measures to wait a while to grow up more myself and be able to provide for our future children the best we can. But no time will ever be perfect and my husband and I are thrilled. When I found out about my new bundle of joy, a girlfriend recommended this book and it sure lived up to everything she said. I knew who Jenny McCarthy was, but never thought that perfect skinny blonde could really know all the difficulties of pregnancy, but SHE DOES. This book rings true. Every topic is valid and real. It made me think about my pregnancy differently and calm down about labor here in a bit. She is funny which is always a good laugh after bursting into tears because of our raging hormones. I DEFINITELY recommend this book to any and all expectant mothers. This book is informative, hilarious and real. Just like Jenny McCarthy. I am now a huge fan of hers and will be rereading this book for support and humor as more of these symptoms worsen.

Good luck and prayers,

Now laugh it up and BUY THIS BOOK!

This book is more of a power point of her experience. I'm not a 'I've dreamed of motherhood my whole life kinda gal' so this approach was welcome. My friend went and ready mayo clinic, my ither friend got a doula, I read belly laughs. I do wish she worked with someone to incorporate some little pregnancy facts/ statistics here and there which is why I gave it 4 stars not 5. Stuff I don't really need because my mom was a obgyn nurse but others would benefit. Regardless, if you just need a truthful testimonial so that the other women around 'dreaming of motherhood' don't make you feel like your going to be the worst mother ever ( and they will try to make you feel that way) read this book. Jenny is always truthful and candid and it's welcome at some point in everyone's pregnancy.

This book was good for a laugh, but there is no real story or plot line, which is what I was expecting. Instead, Jenny McCarthy bounces around from one "topic" to the next (i.e., nesting, stretch marks, mood swings, etc). What bothered me is that she didn't go in chronological order… at one point she is talking about the ninth month, and then goes back to the first trimester… which happens throughout the book. Also, the book is very short … you can probably read it in one day, no problem. For the price, it was definitely too short. All in all, there were some funny parts and it was nice to hear a more "real" account of pregnancy, but don't go in expecting too much.

I just don't understand why this book gets such horrible reviews. I thought it was awesome. Most people have their own opinions on Jenny McCarthy and I personally could care less if she wrote it or not. I'm not a judgmental person and could care less if it was written by Jenny McCarthy or the next door neighbor. It was a good read and I liked reading about her experience. She is blunt and honest and I can appreciate that. I think some people just get so offended by the dumbest things and they get so butt hurt they cant even sit down so they troll on here and give horrible reviews because they have nothing better to do. Calm down people! Read it and enjoy it for what it is...someone's personal experience.

So hilarious! I was getting depressed reading technical pregnancy books and then the what-if's they triggered. Belly Laughs is straight forward but doubled-over funny, and that's saying something, coming from a pregnant person who can't bend over very easily! I will buy this book for everyone I know when they're expecting, from now on. She doesn't hold back, but doesn't make you feel like a freak for recognizing the alarming things she describes.
