Editorial Reviews

Fascination with the young, experimental and mutable bellydance style known as Tribal Fusion has attracted global intrigue and admiration. Tribal Fusion Bellydance emphasizes muscular execution of fundamental bellydance movement poured through with Flamenco posturing, avant-guard style, fantasy ethnic adornment, and supported by San Francisco and modern beats.  The innovators and teachers of this unique global phenomenon converge to display their latest trends, proclivities, and current fascinations. From pop-locking, to duets, to Moulin Rouge solos, become a part of this youthful and ancient dance form that can be all things to all dancers. This DVD offers a glimpse into the creativity and pageantry that inspires the leaders of this dance form today.

This dvd was only a waste of money. I expected new performances from the bellydance tribal superstars, but I saw only a collection of performances from the following dvds:
- Bellydance superstars at the Folie Bergères
- Tribal fusions vo1
- Tribal fusions vo2
- Tribal LA
- Bellydance Superstars: 3D Superstars, Volume One
- Art of Bellydance: Live From Shanghai
- Babelesque
So, if you already own the dvds written above, don't buy Tribal superstars! That would be a waste of time and money.

I agree with the other reviewers: the only interesting section of this dvd are the interviews.

I bought this dvd hoping for some new performances but only found a recycle of other dvds. The only thing new is several interviews.

I have to agree with the other reviewer. I was so looking forward to this dvd, but it was just dances from the other tribal superstar dvd's. The interviews are a nice edition. Otherwise, pretty unhappy with this.

I can understand the upsettedness of the low star reviews. It's too bad the marketing of the product didn't mention that the performances was a collection from previous dvd releases, so that there would have been no surprise. That is one of the reasons why I didn't give the product a 5 star review. There are a couple other reasons, but I'll get to that later.
Most of these performances were new to me, as I do not own all the previous performance dvd releases. I just have one other Tribal Fusion performance dvd. So a few performances on Tribal Superstars were repeats. And also, I've seen a couple of the performances online before already. Overall I was and am happy to have this release I am reviewing. It would have been nice to be able to purchase all the previous dvd's that featured these lovely artists, but for the most part, I choose to buy instruction belly dance dvd's instead. I like when the company releases dvd's featuring performances of only the Tribal Fusion dancers.
The production of this dvd is good. Easy access menu, sound is good on everything, professional. Lots of venues to see them dance at. Live events at different locations, or in a studio. And I LOVED the extra of the interviews with the dancers. Which included: Zoe Jakes, Sabrina Fox, Kami Liddle, Miles Copeland, Moria Chappell, and Carolena Nericcio. To me, Moria's interview was especially cool because she went into detail about her costume building process, by actually showing one of her costumes and explaining how it all came together. I thought that was neat! I did already know that tribal or tribal fusion costuming comes from many different sources and bits and collections, but it was awesome of her to share!
