You will love this Queen of Flowers DVD by Neon if you have not worked with balancing a tray on your head before, OR if you are looking to do something surprising for your teacher, friends, and the community. Three full choreographies to learn, and artistically adapt for parties, birthdays, shows, and more for all levels of dance. Choreography is broken down into small groups of moves and than repeated to make sure you go over what you learned. Neon does this throughout the entire DVD, so be sure you are comfortable going over your moves several times. I had trouble putting on my veil on time to repeat the routine from the beginning to the point in the routine we stopped at. It got annoying, but Neon explained that it is important to go over certain moves to make sure you do not have accidents while you are dancing. Good point! Subtitled "Logistics" is the section where Neon talks to you herself and goes over some of the things you will need before learning the choreographies. She talks about how to pick a tray, and not to use adhesives as it takes away from the performance. To balance the tray yourself and to do it honestly is the best trick. She goes over how to do flower arrangements, and a lot more information that was informative. Neon is a refreshing Belly Dancer to have in our community. All levels of dancers will learn new tricks, or moves from Neon as she is amazing! Total running time is 1 hr. 30 min. Great explanation of moves and excellent quality DVD. Shows movements both front and back at the same time.

LOL, Ditto to the outlandish green miniskirt mentioned in the previous review! Neon has a proclivity toward unconventional costuming. I included a couple of her outfits in my "America's Best and Worst Dressed Bellydancers" list (I am still working on it) actually among the best but if I were to give another "fashion police ticket" Neon's miniskirt outfit from the "Queen of Flowers" is asking for it!

This said, I love Neon's choreographies! They are easy and sophisticated all at once. I am intermediate level, tray balancing is not exactly my thing, but I pulled it off for my hubby's B-day (with a cake!) inspired by Neon's stunning yellow dress (on the cover) and her methodical instruction.

I emailed her regarding balancing a tray with a cake on it, and she gave me a million dollar piece of advice: "Get rid of the paper doily from under the cake, center the cake on the tray, center the tray on your head, and you're in business."

I really enjoyed this video, Neon teaches and performs on an all black background so there are no distractions. The video also has illustrations for body and arms and that really helps whan you are not sure what she is doing. She wears an outlandish green bra and miniskirt and at first I thought it was quite funny but soon realized it is helpful in order to see her movements. She also tells you what knid of tray to use and how to arrange the flowers. All in all this video is very good instruction, and Neon has a cute Russian accent too!

I actually came across this dvd by mistake, I thought I ordered something else and this showed up but I gave it a try. What a great selection of routines for an intimate performance! I really enjoyed the idea of showering or distributing roses from your tray during your dance. I had never seen anyone perform balancing a tray on TOP of a veil covering the dancer before.
Surprisingly easy- a beginner could pull off these dances and look very mysterious and accomplished. She even gets down to the nitty gritty of what kind of makeup to wear to prevent getting your hair caught in your lipstick.
I must admit the coverart seemed a little cheesy and the very neon costume gave me my doubts but the performance was rather tastful and I absolutely LOVE her accent!

If you've been searching for a dvd that clearly explains tray balancing techniques then look no further! Neon's precise teaching techniques, friendly demeanor and excellent dance skills take the mystery out of balancing and make it fun to learn. She also provides the student with several unique performance ideas. Every dancer should have this dvd in their reference library!

Since everyone wrote great reviews, I'll just add I rented this dvd & quickly scanned this to see if I'd like it. Neon is a beautifully fluid & original dancer. This dvd production & black background with some graphic help is just like all her other dvds from worlddancenewyork

Huge fan of Neon. Have a collection of her performance and instruction DVDs. Bought this to help me with tray of candle dancing. She offers 3 full choreography instructions for beginner, intermediate and advance. Each choreography shows the performance chapter first. The beginner and intermediate offers step by step breaks down and explains each combo very well. You also have options:learn, learn and practice with music or just practice. The advance shows performance and practice.
I quite enjoy her enthusiasm and her charming accent.
The end chapter of DVD "Logistics" offers advice such as selecting a tray, balancing the tray, preparing the roses/flowers,improvising your choreography...Highly recommend it!

Echoing all previously-stated praise, here. I've got a couple of Neon's videos and none of them impressed me (dance party, big apple stars) but this one is great. Goodness, yes, I want to learn to balance trays of flowers, lit candles, cakes, and who knows what else on my head! Pretty cool. The instruction is really perfect, not tedious, over done, or slow. Tips on what kind of tray and how to get it to balance, invaluable. If you're a dancer, you've got a great show-stopper if you master this technique. Neon's a patient, sweet, encouraging, non-threatening instructor. Well-done, pleasing, delivers what it promises; no complaints at all, only praise for this niche-idea dvd.
