4.0 out of 5 stars Works fine for most watches, cannot beat the price

1.0 out of 5 stars Doesn't work with Baume Mercier
I don't recommend this unit. It did not keep my Baume Mercier Capeland watch wound. I wish I had seen the other review about this winder not working on Breitlings and Rolex. It did keep my Invicta 9937 wound though so it's hit or miss.

This works fine for most of my watches including rolex and other heavy style watches, submariner and president are fine. I also find it to be fine with other expensive watches. The trick is your watch has to be wound up before placing it into the winder. If you have not worn the watch and place it in the winder and expect it to be wound up, it will not work, wind your watch, wear it and then put in the winder, it will be fine. If not, it will run down after some time and defeat the purpose of the winder. These only last a couple years, so figure on having to replace every 2 or three years, they are probably not powerful enough for the heavy gold watches, but you can buy 5 of them or 10 to 15 years worth for the same price as the expensive winders that also wear out after a few years.

5.0 out of 5 stars Works well, nothing to complain about, May 19, 2009

Simple and straightforward two watch winder with four different time settings for rotation and rest. It's not a beautiful piece of decoration, but rather a simple working unit. Save your money for watches rather than for watch winders.

4.0 out of 5 stars Works well. Annoying if you have heavy watches..., February 26, 2010

Like many other people here have suggested, your watch needs to be wound BEFORE placing it in the winder.

Anyone who is knocking the watch winder because it's ugly is clearly an idiot. You can't complain about how something is cheap and plastic when you bought the item because it IS cheap and plastic. That's a complaint with your wallet, not the winder. The winder works perfectly for almost all of my higher end watches, which is good considering my Big Bang has trouble winding in a $300 Orbita.

The only problem with the winder is that any watch over 6 oz. is too heavy for the plastic clips that hold the watch in place. As it spins, the watch will jostle around making a very ANNOYING knocking sound. Now its not a loud noise, but it is noticeable in a quiet space like my walk in closet. I'm only in there for a few minutes at a time which is why I gave it a 4-star rating. If, however, you plan on putting this in a space you frequent and you have some heavier pieces, then I would strongly suggest you increase your budget stronger winder.

I think the reason no one has caught on to this flaw is because most people buying a $40 winder aren't putting a watch in them that are made of enough material to weigh over 6 oz. Well I have, and let me tell you anything made of precious metal, has a lot of diamonds, or a really large SOLID case will knock around in this winder. If you have a run of the mill Rolex, Tag, or Omega you would be fine. Otherwise, get something that is made of wood...

1.0 out of 5 stars Have two, both stopped working after a year, November 29, 2009

I bought two of these to keep my watches wound. Within a few months they started making clunking sounds and now they've both completely stopped working after a year. Opening them up, the gearing is cheap plastic and I'm guessing my watches are too heavy (Rolex Sea Dweller + Tag Carrera S in one and Breitling SuperOcean + Omega Seamaster in the other). Good price, but disappointing overall. Now I need to buy something else.

4.0 out of 5 stars OK, for 2 years, then broke., July 30, 2009
This review is from: Automatic Watch Winder (Double) (Watch)
This is a good product for the price.

I have used mine on a daily basis for 2 years, 24/7. The top winder still works fine.

The bottom winder just recently broke after 2 years of nonstop usage.

I set it on alternating rotation and time-setting C, and it kept my watches running without any problems until now.

I would have given it 5 stars had it not broken.

This automatic winder is super quiet! You can't even tell it's on if you have other noise in the room, such as a TV or radio. Without any background noise, it's still super quiet, and you really have to put your ear near it to hear anything. It's also a great presentation for your watches while winding. However, I did dock one star for the bulkiness of the casing, I don't think it's necessary for the casing to be as big as it is (check the size specs ahead of time, I didn't look at them before purchasing). But my boyfriend says it's of the normal size that a watch winder should be. I just expected it to be smaller and slimmer.

4.0 out of 5 stars Simple, yet stylish product, August 6, 2009
By
This review is from: Automatic Watch Winder (Double) (Watch)
The watch winder arrived today. I am impressed with the product, it is simple, does not take up much space and looks stylish. I alright started using it, true enough, it is quiet. Hope the winder can last for at least 18-24 months, since it has mechanical parts and runs 24x7x365. BTW, nowadays electrical and electronic products do not last, since most of the products are manufacture from C...a

2.0 out of 5 stars Double watch winder, August 3, 2009

This review is from: Automatic Watch Winder (Double) (Watch)
This is the second double watch winder I've bought from the vendor. Both lasted just over a year. My double is now a single-the top winder motor burned out. It apparently can't handle the weight of a 52 mm mechanical watch.

Unit stopped working after 1-year of daily use.... Undecided yet if I'm going to buy the same one because of the performance but the price is really tempting...
