5.0 out of 5 stars A story you never want to end
I have read other reviewers coments and I totally agree with them. Dar is one of the most sexiest men I have ever read about. He can jump in front of my car anytime he wants. I loved Firedrake, he was a darling. This story has everything you want, humour, passion, magic and love. A sequel to this book would be perfect. I'd love to read about Jennifer and Dar in...

Being new to the world of romance novels and the wealth of writers therein, I found this book enjoyable. Now, it is nothing compared to my usual fare, but tempted the senses nonetheless.

I loved Firedrake, he was a darling. This story has everything you want, humour, passion, magic and love. A sequel to this book would be perfect. I'd love to read about Jennifer and Dar in Asgard, as well as the other secondary characters. This book has the potential to become a series. Please do it Judy. This is a magnificent first book and I can't wait for your next one. Well done.

When I first read the excerpt for BELOVED WARRIOR I wondered if the book would live up to my high expectations -- and it sure did! Like Jennifer, I fell in love with Dar and his little dragon. A creative, funny, non stop romantic fantasy adventure. Ms. Di Canio is definitely an author to watch for. Bring on the sequels! *G*

4.0 out of 5 stars Original story, June 23, 2002

Judy di Canio has written an original novel. Dar, a Norse god, is tricked by his enemy Loki and finds himself at Earth. There he meets with Jennifer, who takes him and his little dragon Firedrake to her home. She believes his story and tries to help him to find his way back to Asgard/Valhalla. A lot happens in the book (sometimes a bit too much!) and it is quite funny to read about Firedrake, the little dragon. I liked the story and would like to see a sequel.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Fun, Can't-Put-It-Down Read, July 11, 1999
This review is from: Beloved Warrior (Perfect Heroes) (Mass Market Paperback)
Ms. Di Canio has written a wonderful book that easily allows you to believe in dragons, vikings, and more. I could not put down this book until I reached the last page of Jennifer and Dar's romance. I would recommend this book highly to anyone who enjoys their romance with vikings, mythological beings, witches, or just a romance with a little bit of fun. All I ask is that Ms. Di Canio and her publisher, Dorchester, please give us the stories for some the wonderful secondary characters in this book. I know anyone who reads this book will also be impatiently waiting for the stories of Lor, Dalia, and Marcus Nordstrom to name a few.

3.0 out of 5 stars Beginning Reader, August 20, 2000
This review is from: Beloved Warrior (Perfect Heroes) (Mass Market Paperback)
Being new to the world of romance novels and the wealth of writers therein, I found this book enjoyable. Now, it is nothing compared to my usual fare, but tempted the senses nonetheless.

Jennifer, our leading lady, is caught up in past. Her mother just died and men aren't really on her good list. Making ends meet is her only concern and like most heroines, she wishes for a miracle.

Along comes her miracle, fully garbed in his Norseman's regalia, sword and dragon in tow. Dar, our hero, is not exactly what she was expecting. Dar proceeds to turn her life upside down, using and abusing the furniture and they proceed to fall in love with each other.

There are some obstacles to overcome, like some silly scientists who are studying time travel who want to take Dar away, and Dar's adversaries from his home are out to kill him.

The dialog in this book, however, is lacking and at times unrefined, which is why it merits a three. The book is, however, quite charming. Pick this book up at your local resale shop on a fine blustery day and enjoy in flannel PJ's with a cup of hot cocoa.

5.0 out of 5 stars Hot, Sweet, Funny!, August 1, 1999
This review is from: Beloved Warrior (Perfect Heroes) (Mass Market Paperback)
A promising first for Judy DiCanio. When Loki, Viking afterworld mischief maker has his pride wounded by Dar, grandson of Odin, he send the immortal plummeting to earth and in front of vehicle driven by Jennifer Giordano. The heroine is alone in the world and short on funds. Against her better judgement she gives her "victim" a place to stay. Together they battle the forces of evil from both worlds who would do them harm. They are aided by Dar's dragon Firedrake, and absentminded geneous Snorri who is an expert on Norse mythology and an unfortunate employee of the intitute which wished to clone Dar's Dragon for evil purposes. A fun story with a sweet romance. Lor's story is next and I hope there will be more detailed info. on Valhalla and it's inhabitants. Great effort for Judy!

3.0 out of 5 stars too much of a victim, February 24, 2006
This review is from: Beloved Warrior (Perfect Heroes) (Mass Market Paperback)
I love the guy or gal in the wrong time period scenarios, but this one had a major flaw....yes, the female can be a victim, but there is such a thing as too much victim...Jennifer got hurt at least a half dozen times and had to be saved at least that many or more. And yet, she doesn't let Dar be the man enough...it was interesting enough to make me want to read the series however

3.0 out of 5 stars an ok read, January 29, 2002
This review is from: Beloved Warrior (Perfect Heroes) (Mass Market Paperback)
Well I liked this book well enough. It is a time-travel fantasy book. The hero is Dar a Norse God who is tricked by Loki and travels forward in time and to another planet, earth, where he meets the heroine, Jennifer. She is having a really rotten year. Her mother has past away, the bills are piling up and to top it off she was just layed off. Then out of nowhere Dar appears and she almost hits him with her jeep. He thinks her jeep is a beast and is ready to defend himself from it. He ends up staying with her as her boarder and in the process proceeds to tear up several of the homes furnishings. Also he has this pet dragon who is very picky about what he eats chewing up her shoes and other belongings. Not to mention a few squirrels. There is quite a bit of humor in this book as they adjust to each other. they also must fight evil from both worlds. This is a nice book for an afternoon read.

4.0 out of 5 stars A wonderful Getaway, May 18, 2000
By
Elena N. Pereira (Pensacola, Florida) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Beloved Warrior (Perfect Heroes) (Mass Market Paperback)
I loved this book for it's great humor and time travel. Everyone can use a little time away from the present. Although the heroine in this story was a little bit weak and whiny she pulled through in the end with a strong perfomance. Judy Di Canio should definatly write again.

4.0 out of 5 stars Margaret, Australia, March 26, 2000
This review is from: Beloved Warrior (Perfect Heroes) (Mass Market Paperback)
I usually don't even bother with time swept books, but this was one of the exceptions. I can honestly say that I thoroughtly loved this book. I would love to have my very own baby dragon, even if it ate my furniture, my shoes and made snacks on the neighbors pets. Now Dar the norse god who popped into to Jennifer's life, what can I say , he can pop into my life any time he wants to. If you enjoy a book that can make you laugh, this is the book for you
