Book Description

"Below the rim of heaven, we are all children of God regardless of religious order, denomination, or faith. We strive desperately to come to grips with our mortal existence, restoring order to the infinite complexity of our lives.
My poetry takes you to a higher level of understanding where emotion, not intellect, defines the uncertain relationship with our creator. It transcends all international, cultural, social, and eternal boundaries. My message is one of hope where there is despair, love where there is reluctance, and joy to soothe your heart.

From the Inside Flap

Below the Rim of Heaven, we are all children of God, regardless of religious order, denomination, or faith. We strive desperately to come to grips with our mortal existence trying unsuccessfully, in many cases, to restore order to the infinite complexity of our lives. The reason that we fail is that we use our intellects to define the boundaries of human conditions. God said come unto him as a child, not as a rocket scientist or some sort of self-styled genius. In my poetry, I take you to a higher level of understanding where emotions set the standards of interaction between mankind and his life, transcending all international, cultural, social, and eternal boundaries. I focus mainly on the relationships of family, friends, self-determination, and above all else, man’s uncertain relationship with his creator. I pray sincerely that my message is one of hope where there is despair, love, where there is reluctance and joy, to soothe your heart.

About the Author

This multi-award winning author was born on March 6, 1948, in San Francisco, California. His family moved to Texas where he was raised in a rural environment and dreamed of a more engaging life. As fate would warrant, Donnell moved back to the West Coast where he attended college and met his lovely wife, Gwen, on a blind date. After thirty-eight years of marriage, Donnell has two sons, three grandchildren, and absolutely no inclination to ever see another rural environment. His true passions in life are poetry and golf.
