This review is from: Below Rollstone Hill (Perfect Paperback)
This book was very interesting to read. It gives readers a glimpse into the past of how Finnish immigrants lived in the early 1900's in the cities. The book was very engaging and had well-developed characters. It's about a young girl who wants to explore more of the world, outside of the Finnish town in Fitchburg, Mass. She discovers that the world isn't always fair, and ends up getting an STD. She realizes that her naive way of thinking got her into trouble and she regrets some of the decisions she had made in life. The book forces readers to look at their own lives and discern whether or not their choices are healthy, not only for themselves, but for those around them. One of the themes in the book is about how uur choices don't just affect us, they affect our families and friends, as well. Their are always going to be consequences when we make decisions. Sometimes those consequences are life-threatening.
