5.0 out of 5 stars A Story So Powerful You Will Want To Read It In One Sitting, October 24, 2004
This review is from: The Bema: A Story about the Judgment Seat of Christ (Hardcover)
Businessman Daniel Mathewson discovers that the way we conduct ourselves daily determines how we experience eternity. Thinking he is beginning just another ordinary day, he encounters THE DAY: the rapture of the church into the heavenlies. Escorted by his guardian angel into the heavenly realm, Daniel observes the wonders of Heaven, talks with angels, and learns to see life from a totally new, Divine perspective.

The first order of business is now the Bema, the Jugdment Seat of Jesus Christ. Millions of saints from every era and nation stand individually before Christ to be evaluated. While all possess eternal life and salvation in Christ, they receive different rewards and degrees of heavenly glory.

When Daniel appears before the Bema Seat, the Lord gives him truly accurate self-knowledge for the first time in his life. More than anything else, Dan longs to hear the words "Well done, My good and faithful servant!" - But, has his life really earned that supreme reward?

The certainty of this day of reckoning has profound implications for the way believers should live here and now. "The Bema" presents this eternal biblical truth in a stimulating, interesting, and understandable way, and helps Christians focus on living in the light of THE DAY rather than merely for today.

Through the agency of one man's realistic life story, "The Bema" paints a vivid and plausible picture of what it will be like when we all stand before the Judgment Seat of Jesus Christ. It is a gripping, relevant, and challenging read. A story so powerful you will want to read it in one sitting.

5.0 out of 5 stars What Happens to Christians After the Rapture of the Church?, September 5, 2001

You will want to read this book in one sitting; you won't be able to put it down. White knuckle ride from the rapture of the Church to the believer's judgment -- The Bema. You've read the Left Behind books, and they leave you wondering what you as a Christian will be doing in heaven while the Tribulation is going on on earth. This is the story of one man, Daniel Matthewson, and his journey to the Bema -- conversations with his guardian angel, meeting Christains who have lived throughout history, and facing Jesus to get His perspective of Dan's life. Very well written, easy to read and understand. Super twists at the end.

5.0 out of 5 stars What Will You See At The Bema?, September 30, 2001
This review is from: The Bema: A Story about the Judgment Seat of Christ (Hardcover)
The Bema is an eye opener. I love this book. I saw a play done that was basted on this book. That's where I got the book. I read this book and loved it.

It's about this man who goes to Heaven in the Rapture, and while he's there he has to go before the Bema, the Judgment Seat of Christ and be judged for all that he did wile he was on the earth.

Let me tell you when you read this book you get convicted. It makes you watch what you do and say. For everyone you do and say will be judged by God! And that's a good enough reason for me to watch what I do and say!

This book can change your life. It's a good thrilling story, with a very, very, VERY, good morel to it! Get it, Read it, and let it make you think twice about your life and the way your living it!!!

READ IT!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent Book, February 6, 2003
This review is from: The Bema: A Story about the Judgment Seat of Christ (Hardcover)
This is one of the best books that I have read in a long time. The author takes you captive from the beginning. You will not want to eat or sleep until you read the entire book. We, as believers, need to be reminded often that each daily decision will reap reward if we choose to "follow Christ" and listen to that "still small voice" that guides us through all trials and tribulations.

Uriel is a delight and I truly believe that we each have our own "Uriel" watching over us. It is almost scary to think that even in our failures of the flesh that our guardians still watch over us and never leaves us.

This is a MUST READ! I have been in the Christian book industry for years and I am not sure why I had not found this gem before. I will most definately keep this book on my book tables that I do for conferences.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Bema, March 2, 2003

This review is from: The Bema: A Story about the Judgment Seat of Christ (Hardcover)
The Bema provides an opportunity to refine your perspective of heaven. After reading the book I found myself thinking more about what God thinks about how I respond to things, what I say, how I treat other people and what is in store after I die. The book is fictional but parallels many things that are taught in the Bible about what we can expect in heaven. What an exciting adventure we have ahead of us. The Bemma is a very thought provoking piece of literature.

5.0 out of 5 stars Anxiously Awaiting "THE BEMA", February 19, 2001

After first seeing the theatrical presentation of The Bema and then reading it, I am in awe at the gifts that God has bestowed upon Tim Stevenson. The book is so detailed yet undescript that you get entranced and find it hard to believe that you've been reading for two hours. You fly through the life of Daniel Scott Matthewson and his supposed final hours on earth. Then you go with him to heaven where he meets his guardian angel, Uriel, right before the Bema. It's amazing to see how 'elastic' time really will be in heaven. At the judgement seat of Christ, Daniel sees the trash that was his life burned away. Then there's the surprise ending. Can't tell you what happens but it kindof makes you angry. Buy the book! I would like to compare this to some other book but I have read none like it. It is kindof like the other side of the Left Behind books. We know what happened on earth, what happened in Heaven?

I thoroughly enjoyed this book and read it quite fast. If you are wondering what it will be like at the judgment seat of Christ, I would say try reading this book.

It may not be how the judgment seat of Christ will be like but it can give you an idea. People from all ages, back to the beginning of time, are with you there. No one is jealous of anyone or anything but everyone finds out the good things you have done in life. The author tells you some of the special qualities you will have in the afterlife and angels are with each person, throughout their life on Earth and in Heaven. This book will make you think about how you are living your life.

Some would say that the book is much like the film "It's a Wonderful Life" meets the bible. But it is far more than that. I have read many books that have educated my mind, strengthened my faith, precipitated enormous reflection, and made me understand the world better. Never have I read a book quite like this that has prompted me to understand the effect on others from every thing I choose to do, or not to do.

The Judgment Seat of Christ will definitely occur shortly after the Rapture of the Church. The Apostle Paul writes about it in (2 Corinithians Ch. 5.) While all hell breaks loose on earth leading up to the 2nd Coming of Christ, Christians will be with the Lord giving an account of each of our earthly actions while in this life.

I agree with Hal Lindsey in his book, "Faith for Earth's Final Hours" that one of the reasons that God created man was to witness to the angels as though Satan is under trial and puny man is being used as a "exhibit" against Satan to prove that lower forms of creation (man) could still follow the Lord. Shakespeare said it more secularly by saying that "all the world is a stage and the people merely players." We are each individually being "watched" and will be evaluated, good and bad, for our actions.

Stevenson's book tracks the life of a Christian that probably represents far too many. They recognize the need of the blood of Jesus Christ to atone for their sins. Yet, their lives don't always reflect or return much for the enormous gift that the Creator of the Universe gave with the gift of His only son.

The book is a definite page-turner as a literary device but will also profound make you think differently about each day of your life, each person you pass on the street, and each opportunity we have to share the love and forgiveness that God has offered. It is an enormously convicting book to read. But completely true.
