the wick will get clogged with minerals and quit working, plus you can order this direct from the company much cheaper than through this store and with much less shipping.

It was received within a few days, the package was in excellent condition, and the product is excellent. We've had the humidifier for at least 10 years and the wicks aren't available in our area now,(it was just like vacuum cleaner bags, if the vacuum is over 2 yrs old, you can't find them), so I'm so glad we didn't have to buy another humidifier simply because we couldn't find refill wicks for a humidifier that is still perfectly good. The price was the same as we paid for the originals.

I ordered the Bemis super wick (#1041) and they sent me a Best Air wick that is not interchangeable. It will not work in my Bemis humidifier. I have attempted to contact the Buy it now store THREE TIMES to no avail. They were happy to take my money and in no hurry to correct their mistake.

I bought this pack of 2 BestAir CB41 wicks from the buy-it-now store here. I did buy similar items from other vendors before and they all performed much much better than these.

I live in Arizona and the water here has high mineral content so I do use a water softener. All previous wicks that I've used in the last several years usually lasted 3 to 6 months each. This CB41 from BestAir works good for about 3 weeks then it just barely pickup water after that. The humidity level output can't get much above 40% so the humidifier has to run virtually all the time to keep the house at 35%. I'll avoid this brand next time.

Pro: Same fit and form as the original wick; has wire inside to keep the wick from sagging; paper element seems strong and does not tear easily; plastic casing seems well made; price is as good as I can find in other sites.

Con: Usable life is much shorter than original wick.

06/01/2010: I've just checked the wick's paper and it seems to be very stiff and does not pick up water well. I tried to rejuvenate it using vinegar and it was better for a few weeks.

I am lucky knowing that Amazon can come up with a fit even if the appliance is over 10 years old.

Replacement product fits like a glove. I did however have to turn it upside down in the humidifier after a few weeks and a week of the humidifier turned off as the wick dried out and wouldn't suck up water more than an inch unless it was inverted. Still works in the opposite direction than intended.

With the chill in the air it was time to fire up the heater to keep the house warm. We normally use the humidifier along with the heater, but when I went to find a new filter/wick I realized we were out. Sad, without the humidifier running the kitties were staticky (don't think that's a real word) all week. I tried searching for the Bemis online site, but I was having no luck and what I did find was WAY too pricey. I continued my searched online for a replacement wick and found that Amazon had a great price. We ordered it from Buy-It-Now through Amazon on Thursday and it arrived early Saturday morning. The filters were Best Air Humidiwick and are compatible with our Bemis 600 series console humidifier. I immediately replaced the filter and fired it up. Now the kitties and I are happy and static free!

If you like junk then you'll love this. It fell apart in a week's time. The Bemis company just refuses to honor any warranty!!! Beware!!!
