5.0 out of 5 stars Fun Game for Young & Old Alike!
My wife and I bought the Wii version of this game for our 5 yr old son as a Christmas gift. He's a HUGE fan of Ben 10, and we'd previously bought an "Omnitrix Watch" for him because of his interest. He really likes the Ben 10 show, and he loved the movie, "Race Against Time", on the Cartoon Network.

As a 40-something guy w/ a 5 yr old, I wasn't sure if this...

3.0 out of 5 stars My kids like it
My two kids love Ben 10. They got so excited to get this game. It is fun to play, and easy for them, they are 3 and 5 years old. The downside is that the game isn't that long. My husband and I barely helped them with it, they had limited playing tome, and yet they still finished the whole game themselves within a week. I just wish it was longer. They now just go...

5.0 out of 5 stars Fun Game for Young & Old Alike!, January 5, 2008
= Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: Ben 10 (Video Game)
My wife and I bought the Wii version of this game for our 5 yr old son as a Christmas gift. He's a HUGE fan of Ben 10, and we'd previously bought an "Omnitrix Watch" for him because of his interest. He really likes the Ben 10 show, and he loved the movie, "Race Against Time", on the Cartoon Network.

As a 40-something guy w/ a 5 yr old, I wasn't sure if this particular game would be a good fit for my son. While it's rated "E-For Everyone" it also indicates it's for children age "10+". Needless to say my wife and I were worried that it would be beyond his skills and capabilities. (He can't really read yet, after all.)

Well,...I'm here to tell you that this is a really GREAT and FUN GAME! All of my concerns evaporated as my son and I began the journey into "Ben 10 - Protector of Earth", which is the story of how Ben 10 fights various aliens all across America. (Kudos to the game maker for including Seattle, our home town!)

Beyond the fact that this game has helped me bond with my son (remember, he NEEDS me to read the instruction prompts and navigate the game settings) we both fundamentally enjoy playing it together.

As my son says,..."It's fun being friends and playing it!"

Here are a couple of the most compelling aspects:

1) On the "Easy" setting, this is the ONLY video game we've been able to get completely through. (Mind you, I had an old '90's era Sega Genesis "X-Men" game that I've played with him, and we've never been able to get beyond the first few levels. Frustrating for us both!)

2) After you kill all the "bad guy" aliens in each level, a vignette plays,...kind of like a snippet from the TV show. This was great at keeping his attention on the storyline of the game. And quite honestly, the story was so compelling that I kept asking him, "Geesh,...I wonder what's going to happen next!"

3) In each level, there's a specific task to be accomplished. If you're really good at controlling a character's action, you can find "Sumo Cards" that give you access to extra features. My son and I love trying to figure out where to navigate to the "Sumo Cards".

4) As you navigate thru each level, it's CRITICAL to bust-up inanimate objects to get what we call "power-ups" (things that boost your energy or alien strength). It's probably just a guy thing, but my son and I really enjoy going around punching and kicking stuff trying to find "power-ups". Also, I found it interesting that when my son plays with his next-door-neighbor friend (another 5 yr old boy), they don't wrestle as much during play dates. They're too busy busting up light poles, boxes, statues, etc. within the game. In other words, they get to exercise their aggression on the GAME objects, rather than each other. Hoo-ray!

5) While we've only played it on the EASY setting, it was really nice to play this game as simply entertainment. We listened to the storyline vignette, fought the bad guys and got to the next level. All without needing a PhD in video game play. I can't tell you how much it means for a 5 yr old to get to the next level of play and then,...drum roll, please,...actually complete the entire game! Big hugs and high fives went all around! (I'm sure more sophisticated players would be challenged by the harder levels, but we'll never know!)

6) Figuring out how to defeat the "mega bad-guys" takes some skill. There are several points throughout the game when you'll be required to use the Wii remote to target points on the screen in order to defeat the mega bad-guy. Miss the targets and you don't kill the bad guy! My son and I actually enjoyed figuring out which Ben 10 character could best be used to defeat the bad guy, as well as each character's Achilles' heel. (And again, most times he needed my help to aim the remote to lock onto the targets.)

As a guy who simply wants to spend quality time with his son, I owe the folks from D3 (the game publisher) a hearty THANK YOU for affording me this great tool for having some fun and quality time with him.

And in conclusion, I can only offer my son's recommendation about the game. He says, "Get the Ben 10 game! It's fun!"

Now,...if I can just get that "double-click on the Z-Button Jump Move" down, for when we fight Vilgax,...!

5.0 out of 5 stars Great game overall... especially for my 4 year old, January 27, 2008
= Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: Ben 10 (Video Game)
My 4 year old is a ben10aholic and we just got a Wii so it seemed like a true fit. I have to say that overall it was a great game for kids for the following reasons

1) There are 3 modes, easy medium and hard and although I have only tried easy, you can die as much as you want and you just restart at the last 'waypoint' or "Go" point and there are tons of them so its not a crying pain when you die. Especially good since my son likes to fall off the cliffs quite a bit.

2) You can play the whole game cooperatively (2 Bens on screen at once) and it works really well and makes the game great for parent/child interaction plus you can help out in the hard parts.

3) The story flows well and introduces all the main Ben 10 characters althoght you only get to play 4Arms, Wildvine, Heatblast, Xlr8 and cannonbolt. The only one my son missed was Wildmutt but its really not that big a deal as jumping between the 5 aliens is more than enough.

The only hard part in the game for my son was the jumping parts and its just a matter of practice due to his smaller hand size.

As for the Wii, it runs on wand + nunchuck and for my sons smaller hands it works better than the classic controller, which is bigger and harder for my son to get his hands around. It says that classic controller works in the manual but I couldnt get it enabled although I didnt try that hard. Not much in terms of wand movements and they could have dropped the wand movements overall in my opinion as they do not really benefit the gameplay.

I would highly recommend this game to any Ben10 fans or anybody who likes cartoon action/adventures.

4.0 out of 5 stars Play at the same time with your kids (two-player co-op), June 28, 2008
= Fun:4.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: Ben 10 (Video Game)

There is already a lot said in the other reviews, so I thought I would solely focus on one of the great features of this game. The co-op mode. My son is 5, he still struggles with some of the battles in this game. But you can just fire up another controller and join the battle with your kid. We have a blast trying to smash more than the other. We each try different aliens to see who is better.

It is a lot of fun with some great bonding.

The game itself is OK, the the ability to play together is such a plus!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Ben 10 Wii Craze, May 22, 2009
= Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: Ben 10 (Video Game)
I bought this game based off the reviews here in Amazon. My 7-year-old and my 3-year-old love playing this together. It's great that they can battle the enemy aliens together and promote their teamwork. I love watching them and hearing them discuss their attack strategies and what alien they plan on being. Great buy.

Fun game. Like the cartoon. It is a little repetitive but you can change which alien you will be
and use their different powers. Challenging with different levels.
Overall, a good buy for children who like the show.

4.0 out of 5 stars My 5-Year Old Loves It, July 7, 2011

This review is from: Ben 10 (Video Game)
I read a lot of reviews on the different Ben 10 Wii games and decided to get this one for my 5-year old son because it seemed like the best bet for a kid his age. I haven't bought any of the others yet to compare, but so for I'm really glad this is the one I bought for him. He wants to play it all the time and actually amazes me at how well he plays it. I haven't tried it myself but I assume it's pretty responsive to the buttons you have to push for the different power moves because when I watch him play, he does crazy move after crazy move like he's been playing for years. If you have a younger kid that's bright, he will like this game. The only thing negative to say at all is that there are a LOT of times that he says "Mom, what does this say??" but really he only actually asks when it comes to the name of the different moves and what buttons you have to push to do them. There's a storyline in there but a lot of it is spoken by the characters and the parts that are written don't seem to slow him down by just skipping over them. For the price, this is an awesome buy for a kid that loves Ben 10.

I got this game for my 6 yr old cousin.

He loves the game but finds it almost impossible to play with both
the wii controller and the wii nunchuk held in both hands at the same time.

The game is quite fun to play and entertaining otherwise.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Game To Share With a Friend (or Brother), July 29, 2009
= Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: Ben 10 (Video Game)
Ben10 has fantastic 2 person storyline play. My six year old picked it out for his 9 year old brother's birthday, and it has been non-stop fun for them! They love being able to change into all the various creatures. The controls are intuitive enough that the boys figured them out without reading. They love games like that!
If you are looking for a multi-player cooperative game for the Wii, this is a good option.

= Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: Ben 10 (Video Game)
This game is very good for many reasons.I got this game because Im a real Ben10 fan, and I must say this game is very fun!
The to player mode and wii controls make it even better!
I love the boss battles there very "big" because the bosses are very very BIG!
This game is what I'd call light gaming its easy, but not to easy.If your one for a hard game this game also has a hard mode.
This game is also very true to the cartoons (same voices), I also think the games story is great it keeps you on your feet wanting to none stop play!
It has all your favorite villains and favorite Ben10 locations!
If your a Ben10 fan, a action game lover, like to use the wii controls in a cool way, then you'll love this game!

4.0 out of 5 stars Super great game; interim graphics could be better, December 31, 2008
= Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: Ben 10 (Video Game)
Bought this for my MEGA Ben 10 5 year old fan. Although he'd had maybe no more than 10 hours of play on the wii prior to this Christmas he has nearly mastered 2 levels on the game in just 2 days. Had no idea until I read the other reviews that we could play with him too...so that should make playing more interesting.

I will say that because he is such a huge Ben 10 fan we bought the HyperScan game for him for Christmas as well...the wii blows it away. This is MUCH MUCH easier to play and it's easier to change aliens...yes, it is a bummer you only get like 6/10 aliens but then if you want more that's what Alien Force is for. Overall, I think it's an awesome game and true to the television series...Only disappointment is the conversations with Gwen and Grandpa between the sets is lackluster...I really expected the graphics on that to have been better than what they were. Overall, I'm extremely glad I bought the game and am looking forward to getting Ben 10 Alien Force in the mail next week! :)
