I have two Ben Hur cd soundtrack albums. This one and the Turner one issued in 1996.

I prefer this one, because it contains the music from both original vinyl lp's issued in the '50's, of which volume 2 is the "More Music From Ben Hur" by the Frankenland State Orchestra. This one has some music missing from the the Turner boxed set.

This is NOT the entire score for this epic motion picture. The "Overture" really isn't the overture heard in the movie, but an alternate version for Part II that was cut from the film. The Complete Score, which contains all of the music heard in the film and tracks that were either partially or completely cut from the film and which for some reason is not available on this site, is better (though I've not yet heard the 1959 Original Soundtrack). Avoid this one.

The excellent movie score composed by great hungarian composer Miklós Rózsa, 17 years chief of composer of METRO-GOLDWYM-MAYER, for the 11 Oscar Winner "BEN-HUR" 1959
