The Nitrous spring-assisted mechanism makes one-handed opening of this knife a breeze--give the blade a nudge and the knife does the rest. Release is nearly effortless, and the action is quick and the lock-up is Benchmade perfect. The 154-CM blade has a right handed thumb stud and the knife body offers black G-10 handles over steel liners. A lanyard hole and deep carry pocket clip (tip down) are also present.

One of Benchmades best as far as I'm concerned.

If it doesn't get fully closed, or something catches on the thumb-stud and opens it just a little, then the point is exposed.

Final thoughts: It's a great knife, works well and looks in even better.

I was given this knife as a gift or I would have returned it... Overall, it's a pretty good knife. It's nice to look at. The satin finish on the blade is gorgeous. The G-10 scales have a nice oval sheen finish that's very appealing. As far as performance goes... well, the blade is a deep bellied drop point with a keen edge. It's also very thin, so edc isn't the best suited application. It's a deep bellied slasher. The nitrous action is very fast and precise. I do like the assist feature. The lock however, is WEAK! I have gotten it to fail twice for me while I was just screwing around, and I am not alone in this observation. I don't exactly know what would happen if I were to need it to defend my life. If I struck bone with a thrust... I wouldn't trust it. Benchmade possesses the patent on one of the best if not the best locking systems found in knives today. I don't know why they would even put a liner lock in a folder they produce. Spend a few more bucks and get an Onslaught or a McHenry Williams. The nitrous assist is cool but definitely not worth trading for a good Axis lock. Pretty and fun... but not very dependable.

** UPDATE**

After owning this knife for several months I am a bit unhappy with it overall. The blade is still great and so it the G10 Handle. My main problem is with the Torsion Bar system that Benchmade decided to go with, while it is smooth and fluid, it relies on TINY little metal bars to hold it together. My knife is now not "assisted" because the little bar worked its way out one day and there is NO chance I would ever be able to find it. The reason it was lost is because the tightening down screw CONSTANTLY needs to be tightened!

I love Benchmade knives but this one has been very much a love/hate relationship. It is still a beautiful knife, the blade is great but the assisted opening feature (while extremely smooth) is completely Unreliable!!!

I am going to try and send it in for re-sharpening and hopefully they will replace the little bar.

Still going with 4 Stars and will update this review after I get it back from Benchmade.

**End Update**

This knife is beautiful and the blade came extremely sharp out of the box. It's a Benchmade!

Pros:

1) The Nitrous assisted opening is probably the smoothest assisted opening I have ever used. I am a big fan of Kershaw's Speed Safe but Benchmade is just smoother and feels better.

2) The polished G10 scales look great, while they don't add much grip the knife feels great in my hand. Looks almost like wood grain, feels "elegant".

3) 154cm Steel is a great all around steel. Keeps an adge and easy to maintain an edge.

4) The "glass breaker" is a good addition. Also can be used as a "Less Lethal" means of attack. It looks good and it is SOLID!

Cons:

1) The blade does not sit in exact center when I close it up.

Benchmades are known for their quality. This knife is beautiful. It has great steigerwalt design ascetics. But i have had a few minor issues, namely with the clip. It seems to be designed perfectly. It rides low in the pocket and honestly you cant even tell that it is in your pocket, except for the clip which is visible outside of the pants. I think it is the same clip in the Benchmade Deja Vu. So thats nice. But the screws on mine seem very loose. Make sure to tighten it up before you carry it. I lost 2 screws that way. But just locktight the screw and you will be fine. The blade is great and the 154cm is amazing. I love the steel and the blade shape. Be forewarned that the blade has no jimping. So I don't recommend it as a defensive knife. But as a knife to carry everyday for general cutting tasks you would be hard pressed to find a better knife. The glass breaker tip is great as well. Sorry for the jumbled review, and the seemingly negative review but the knife is a great buy. The knife is beautiful, the lines are clean, and the blade is perfect. Its a great knife to add to any collection.

WARNING - The blade can stay open just a little bit, leaving the point exposed.

Most folders will automatically close all the way once they are nearly closed. This one does not. If it doesn't get fully closed, or something catches on the thumb-stud and opens it just a little, then the point is exposed. I've cut myself twice because of this.

I use this knife as my everyday knife. I have never had the lock fail or trouble with the spring assist. I have fallen asleep many times not realizing the knife is still in my pocket. Keeps a great edge and comes razor sharp.

This is my fourth Benchmade knife. It's become my favorite pocket knife and, at least for now, has replaced the Kershaw Drone I'd carried for several months.

It's a gorgeous knife. I prefer simpler looking knives and am not very fond of etchings and holes cut in the handle or blade (ostensibly to make it lighter but has the effect of making it a dust bunny magnet and difficult to clean). It's also non-serrated. Some folks have a use for a serrated blade, but I find them a pain to sharpen and I've yet to find a task that can't be done as effectively with a plain edge. The clip works well and allows the knife to be carried easily in a pair of jeans or slacks without protruding.

When it arrived, opening the blade was so effortless that it almost seemed spring-assisted (spring assist is not legal in my area, but this mechanism is). I immediately noticed that the blade was a lot thinner than I'd expected, but did in no way feel flimsy. I think the lightness of the blade is why it snaps open so quickly. It was more of a surgical precision rather than a rugged, bulk strength. And it was literally sharp enough for shaving. In the two weeks that I've had it, I've used it for cutting steaks at a barbecue, cutting rope for bundling up some branches and brush, peeling fruit, sharpening a few pencils, and peeling some random vegetables for my lunch. I.e., just normal, everyday things for which one carries a pocket knife. No egressing from airplanes, no batoning of firewood, no fights with wild boar. And I have yet to sharpen it and it's still shaving sharp.

There are a couple really minor things that should be noted. There was an ever so slight burr at the portion of the blade that rests against the liner lock when opened.
