I was given this knife as a gift or I would have returned it... Overall, it's a pretty good knife. It's nice to look at. The satin finish on the blade is gorgeous. The G-10 scales have a nice oval sheen finish that's very appealing. As far as performance goes... well, the blade is a deep bellied drop point with a keen edge. It's also very thin, so edc isn't the best suited application. It's a deep bellied slasher. The nitrous action is very fast and precise. I do like the assist feature. The lock however, is WEAK! I have gotten it to fail twice for me while I was just screwing around, and I am not alone in this observation. I don't exactly know what would happen if I were to need it to defend my life. If I struck bone with a thrust... I wouldn't trust it. Benchmade possesses the patent on one of the best if not the best locking systems found in knives today. I don't know why they would even put a liner lock in a folder they produce. Spend a few more bucks and get an Onslaught or a McHenry Williams. The nitrous assist is cool but definitely not worth trading for a good Axis lock. Pretty and fun... but not very dependable.

The one thing that stands out above other liner lock knives is that I can close this knife with one hand just as easy as I can open it. Every other liner lock I've owned has made a date with my Dremmel tool to make one handed closing easier. This knife is a pleasure to use, well made and light weight. The grip is comfortable does not slip in my hands. Listed as G-10, the grips resemble linen micarta. The thumb stud is comfortable and won't tear up your thumb. The spring assisted opening helps in that regard. I've owned and worked with many knives over the years and this is a BARGAIN, you will not be disappointed.

Benchmades are known for their quality. This knife is beautiful. It has great steigerwalt design ascetics. But i have had a few minor issues, namely with the clip. It seems to be designed perfectly. It rides low in the pocket and honestly you cant even tell that it is in your pocket, except for the clip which is visible outside of the pants. I think it is the same clip in the Benchmade Deja Vu. So thats nice. But the screws on mine seem very loose. Make sure to tighten it up before you carry it. I lost 2 screws that way. But just locktight the screw and you will be fine. The blade is great and the 154cm is amazing. I love the steel and the blade shape. Be forewarned that the blade has no jimping. So I don't recommend it as a defensive knife. But as a knife to carry everyday for general cutting tasks you would be hard pressed to find a better knife. The glass breaker tip is great as well. Sorry for the jumbled review, and the seemingly negative review but the knife is a great buy. The knife is beautiful, the lines are clean, and the blade is perfect. Its a great knife to add to any collection.

I use this knife as my everyday knife. I have never had the lock fail or trouble with the spring assist. I have fallen asleep many times not realizing the knife is still in my pocket. Keeps a great edge and comes razor sharp.

great knife but unfortunately I had it confiscated on threat of arrest in New York City at public site security check point. whether or not the LEO was over-zealous or not is a moot point now since it is no longer in my hands. the spring-assist engages with only the slightest thumb effort giving the impression that it is an automatic. it is a high quality tool, but it is not worth the risk of a criminal record. caution on either Amazon's or Benchmade's websites, both of which I read before purchasing, would have been helpful in avoiding the loss of this rather costly tool.

I had been thinking about buying this knife for a while, and I finally decided to get it. Let me start out by saying that it is not a cheap knife. But, like all other benchmade products, you pay the premium price for a premium blade. This blade comes out with authority with benchmade's nitrous assist mechanism, and the blade looks intimidating as it makes that snap with the lock initiating. The blade, made of 154 cm steel (a great steel choice), comes out of the box sharp enough to shave with. The scales are made of g10 and overall have a very ergonomic feel. There is also a metal pummel at the butt of the knife, giving a non-lethal option for defense. There are three caveats I have to make however.
Firstly, the lock, when first out of box, is very hard to disengage. After you've opened and closed the knife about fifty times, it will close as easily as any other liner locking blade. Because of the nitrous assist, this knife is very fun to play with, and you'll find yourself doing that for fun, so it's really not a huge issue.
Secondly, the handle is, although very attractive, not the most grippy. If you had to use this knife for protection and the pummel wouldn't cut it, the knife may slip out of you hands if you can't grip it hard enough. I find that when I grip it hard, it doesn't budge, and so it isn't much of an issue.
Thirdly, this knife is strictly for right handed users. The thumb stud is only on one side as well as the pocket clip. Not a problem for me, but maybe for others.
Overall, the knife is a great choice for everyday carry as well as for protection.

I have wanted a benchmade knife for many years since first started becoming knowledgeable of quality knives.
Typically Benchmade knives that I have looked at have been many several hunderds of Dollars. at least the ones
that I have found appealing to me. This knife however is what I would consider an entry level Benchmade knife.
Thats not to say that it is at all cheaply constructed. It is quite exquist in quality and beauty.
This is a liner lock knife.I was a bit disappointed by that. I had no idea that a axis lock was a liner lock.. or else that is a misprint. none the less I like this knife. is it well made? It is a Benchmade! Of course it is!
I will keep this knife as a keepsake and pass it along to the next generation of my family. I will carry and use it as it is intended to. and am looking foward to my next Benchmade purchase. these knives are some of the best top of the line knives as far as I am concerned. I also collect tactical fighting knives as well. not that I intend to use them for such... just nice to have for camping and outdoor activities. hope this helps some of you. if this knife appeals to you I say get it. not too many quality knives of this caliber can be had at such an affordable price.

good looking but the lock is weak and when i close it the knife hearts my thumb.
