One of my new favorite folders,

I purchased both the Benchmade 950 Osborne Rift Knife and the Benchmade 930 Osborne Kulgera Knife at the same time, and I have to say that they're both awesome folders for use as an everyday carry. I generally tend to lean towards the combo-edge like the one found on this 950, but I have to say that once I saw the Kulgera in person, the aesthetics of that knife appealed to me more so than the Rift (which I liked better when I saw it online). That being said, the 950 Rift is still an awesome knife and I love it. It does tend to lean towards the large-in-hand side of folders in my opinion, so if you're looking for a compact folder, this may not be the best knife for you.
The G10 scaling was also something I had to get used to. My original Benchmade was a simple tanto blade with a slab of aluminum for the handle - no texturing other than the flat finish. I would almost call the scales on the 950 "sharp" - it reminds me of using a lathe to cut out details and then only giving the finish product a very light sanding. In other words it's not going to bite into your hand, but it gives the impression of being somewhat "rough". I've added a few pictures to the customer images so you can take a look for yourself.

Benchmade has a winner with this knife.Quality is outstanding and the knife is tight. No play in the blade, grip is aggressive but is easy on the hand.Blade is razor sharp out of the box.Weight is just right for me not to heavy not to light.Handle is G10 not polymer or plastic. This is a very well made knife and is worth the money.I have owned Benchmades autos and find I can open this knife quicker. If you want a good tactical knife this is the one in my opinion well worth the money. It has a lifetime warranty and Benchmade stands by their products.
I have many knives and this one ranks as my top folder.

Great all around utility knife,

I own about a half dozen other tactical folders in the same class as this knife and I would have to say that the Benchmade Osborne Rift is my favorite of them all. I have owned it now for about 2 months. It is the first Benchmade I have owned, my previous knives are all Emerson and SOG. The first thing that struck me about the Osborne is the weight of the handle. All my other knives use some kind of composite material and ultra light titanium liners in the handle and are generally much heavier towards the bladed end when open. This knife sits in your hand with a lot of weight on the handle side as the handle is all metal. The second thing is the shape of the blade. I work in IT and I use my knives for everything from cutting open small plastic bags to striping wire to cutting large heavy duty shipping crate bands. A few days ago I was cutting large bundles of cat5e wiring in a data center and this knife was going through about 10-12 cables with copper and insulation with a single pull. The reverse tanto shape on this blade and the combo edge design made this knife a perfect all around utility knife. I also have cleaned trout with this knife and the belly of the blade is perfect for smooth delicate cuts. I would highly recommend this knife to anyone has a hard use daily carry.

Excellent knife, worth the price,

Although this knife seems pricey, it's worth the money if you want a quality knife. The 154cm bladesteel is an excellent quality steel which holds a great edge. There is no blade play, and the cnc'd G-10 handle feels great in the hand. All in all worth the price, if you are willing to spend it.

OK knife for the price,

So far so good seems to be a solid construction. The lever to start the knife open procedure from the back and the stud are kind of inconveniently placed ... they are alright as I can fairly easily open one handed but slower and less fluid than I am used to I have not done a lot of cutting with it yet so have no idea about edge quality but it was not exceptionally sharp out of the box with the painted/coated blade dont really want to sharpen it for fear of reducing the look.

Very good knife, nice and tight, sturdy, great blade, comfortable handles, happy with the knife over all. I really like the G10 handles as well, gives it a very cool look.

I just received this knife last week and it lives up to the benchmade name. I have several other knives about 10 of which are benchmades) and the Osborne Rift does not dissapoint. The size of the knife is about perfect for tactical carry, enough to get a hold of but not uncomfortable in your pocket. Grips are sharp enough to not slip in your hand but not too sharp as to abrade or cut your hand. Blade is heafty but not too thick. All around good value.
