4.0 out of 5 stars which one to pick? american? import? indian version?
for all of you who were extremely confused on which version of the soundtrack you wanted to buy (as I was ), there's hope. There are 3 versions...the american version, import from UK, and a version sold in India (the one I got). The american version has less songs ( a list of which can be obtained from the amazon site). The Import version has a few more songs ( a total...

3.0 out of 5 stars Song while Jess tells Joe she can go to California
I thought the soundtrack to "Bend it Like Beckham" had quite a few really good songs, but I was disappointed that more Indian songs weren't included. Does anyone know what the song is called when Jess runs up to Joe at the soccer field to tell him that she can go to school in California?

for all of you who were extremely confused on which version of the soundtrack you wanted to buy (as I was ), there's hope. There are 3 versions...the american version, import from UK, and a version sold in India (the one I got). The american version has less songs ( a list of which can be obtained from the amazon site). The Import version has a few more songs ( a total of 22), but neither version has the Curtis Mayfield song. NOW, the INDIAN version which you can find by clicking on the icon for other price options under bend it like beckham import...you will see that under the seller's comment, it says 21 tracks...this is the Indian version. this version is not expensive at all and the case of the cd is one of those singles cases and yes, it does contain the Curtis Mayfield song. for the dilemma of which one to get, which one would get you the most songs...well, each version has a song (I think) that none of the other versions have. I think the UK import would be the one which is most complete in terms of songs, but it's also more expensive...but if I were to do it over again, I would have gotten the UK Import, even if I had to pay a about 10 more dollars. I personally loved the movie and so I had to have the soundtrack. But other than that, if I didn't have it to bring back memories of the movie, I would not have gotten it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great regardless of version - and there are 5 differences between Brit & Indian versions, October 30, 2006
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Bend It Like Beckham (Audio CD)
This is a great soundtrack - found some Indian songs I'd never even heard of that I really like, especially "Jind Mahi" by Malkit Singh and "Tere Bin Nahin Lagda" by Partners In Rhyme with Nusrat Faten Ali.

Buyers should note that are indeed differences between the British (22 tracks) and Indian (21 tracks) versions. Make sure you order the one you really want by confirming with individual sellers about which edition they're actually selling. I myself ordered the British and received the Indian.

Here are the differences that really haven't been described accurately in previous reviews.

The British and American versions have these exclusive tracks:
Titles - Craig Pruess And Bally Sagoo Ft Gunjan
Hai Rabai - Craig Pruess And Bally Sagoo Ft Gunjan

The British version has this exclusive track:
Do Your Thing - Basement Jaxx

The Indian version has these exclusive tracks:
Move On Up - Curtis Mayfield
Rail Gaddi - Kuljit Bhamra

So basically there are five differences in total between the British and Indian versions while the American version is the most watered down.

I was debating whether getting the USA release version or the English version. I made my choice because there were more tracks in the English version. I realized my decision was a good one!!! The CD is full of very diverse music soundtrack featured in the movie Bend it like Beckham (duh!). Alot of indy style pop music and it is very cool!!! If you watch the movie and like it...get the sound track because this soundtrack are guranteed FUN!!

I am a HUGE fan of Jonathan Rhys Meyers and heard about this movie on his official site. When a friend of mine recently went on a trip to England and Ireland, she got me two of his movies that, at the time, were only available there. " Tangled" and "Bend It LIke Beckham" I was hooked on Bend It Like Beckham from the first and wanted MORE! So, I went online and found the soundtrack from an Indian music store and I have been blasting away ever since! So, if you want a soundtrack that helps you relive the glory of the movie through its' soundtrack, then this one is definitely for you!

4.0 out of 5 stars Real Feel Good Album!!, September 16, 2002

I was actually interested in this soundtrack since I finished watching it. Just the movie was not enough for me. I loved the dialogues in the movie and Jules!.
All the tracks on this album are good except "Kinna Sohna" (Bally Sagoo feat. Gunjan) because of its cheated beats from Enigma's music and also I didn't liked "Nessun Dorma" as I am not into such kind of music.
"Independence Day" (Mel C)(a personal fav.), "Inner smile" (Texas), "Jind Mahi" (Malkit Singh), "Baddest Ruffest" (Backyard Dog), "Hot,Hot,Hot" (Bina Mistry), "Punjabian Di Shaan" (B.Sagoo feat. Hans Raj Hans) and "Darshan" (B21) are the songs that makes the album's most of its worth.
Victoria Beckham's "Not Such An Innocent Girl" would have suited the album's and the movie's mood much better than the featured "I Wish". Though this is also a good track.
The songs and dialogues are so well arranged, they create a good mood and an illusion of being back to the cinema in your seat. Definitely buyable! Hope this was useful! Happy Listening!...

As soundtrack albums go, this one is great! I got the UK version, and for me, it's a breath of fresh air in my album collection. I prefer the Indian-inspired tracks to the British pop. Take a chance on this album and enjoy!

5.0 out of 5 stars An amazing compilation!!, May 12, 2005

This is a really first rate cd. I have the UK version, which I bought here, but used. I dont recall what I paid ($10?) but it was well worth it! I originally got a damaged cd, and it had to be replaced by the seller---and it was still worth it. I am not sure why the last person says the Curtis Mayfield 'Move on Up' is not on the UK version, because it most certainly *is* (I'm actually listening to it right now!). I honestly don't know where else you can get such a breadth of really amazing, fresh Indian music in one cd, not to mention the awesome Western pop tracks mixed in. I even really like the Victoria Beckham song!!! :) Her album hit the charts at the same time as Kylie Minogue's Fever, so needless to say no one really paid any attention to 'Posh Spice's stuff!! Its a great pop track though. This cd is a great intro to BritPop, Bhangra, Bollywood, Soccer, Beckham, and Indian culture. Wait, theres even Puccini! lol. I even got to hear (Im pretty sure....) the wonderful singer I totally fell in love with (well, I acutally fell in love with Aamir Khan!) in the classic and epic film 'Lagaan'. Which I strongly recommend, by the way.

This is also a great cd to pop in when you are feeling low or down. It's sure to pick you up! Not a single bad track.

5.0 out of 5 stars The club song, July 10, 2005
A Kid's Review
This review is from: Bend It Like Beckham (Audio CD)
For anyone wondering, the first song they dance to in the German club ("I turn to you, like a flower leaning toward the sun, I turn to you cuz you're the only one") is I Turn To You by Melanie C. (The second song is I Wish by Victoria Beckham)

Does NOT have the Curtis Mayfield song. For the person that asked below. Overall, good CD. That song and Tom Jones song should have been included on CD though. That would have made it perfect. jk

If you liked the movie, this soundtrack is by far the next best thing to watching it! The music is a great combination of different styles including great hindi pop, spice girl style music, and lots of other fun pump-up music! It's great to dance to, fun to listen to in the car and unique! I definately recommend this soundtrack, it is a true gem!
