Book Description

May 15, 2001
Bended Bias is an exciting embellishment that can be added to appliquéd or pieced quilts wherever you like. Quilters will appreciate the step-by-step instructions for making and using Bended Bias and will be inspired by the beautiful quilt samples showing the versatility of the technique. Patterns for more than two dozen appliqué flowers are included, with suggestions for where you might place Bended Bias on the flowers. Other Patterns, in Linda's signature style, include butterflies, a dragonfly, hummingbirds and other designs. Bias tape is easily made by cutting a bias strip from a piece of fabric and running it through a bias-tape maker, a simple little tool found wherever notions are sold. For striking effect, Bended Bias can be made from contrasting fabric. Consider, for instance, the possibility of making bias tape from a wild tiger pint and using it to edge an appliquéd tiger lily.

Review

Make sure Linda M. Poole's Bended Bias Applique is on the must have list if it's applique you're interested in. Linda Poole provides versatile techniques, easy introductory methods, and a focus on nature-inspired patterns which just can't be beat. These are some of the most inspirational and gorgeous appliques we've seen, many providing almost a stained-glass setting, and Linda Poole's Bended Bias Applique cannot be recommended highly enough over others on the topic. -Midwest Book Review

5.0 out of 5 stars A new twist on bias tape, October 1, 2004
By
This review is from: Bended Bias Applique (Paperback)
"Bended Bias Applique" takes bias tape one step further than what is usually seen. It begins with several methods of making and applying your own bias tape. Color and design possibilites really expand when you are able to use whatever material fires your imagination. Next are tips for setting up your applique design and also quilting ideas. The big attraction of this book for me, however, is the wonderful assortment of flower patterns. There is a nod to Celtic-style designs and others, but there are over 20 flower designs, in addition to some butterfiles and hummingbirds. All are gorgeous and can be used with the bias technique, or as regular applique, whatever your preferred technique. This is a colorful book, sure to spark your imagination!

5.0 out of 5 stars A MUST-HAVE QUILTING TITLE!, August 22, 2006
By
This review is from: Bended Bias Applique (Paperback)
Bended Bias Appliqué by Linda M. Poole is a must have for every quilters' library. Linda walks you through every step of the bias process. Bias appliqué adds a real punch to any quilt and Linda makes it easy to do. The pictures are clear and the instructions are easy to understand.

The quilts are absolutely stunning. I particularly love the dragonfly and hummingbird quilts. Also of particular interest are the directions for shaping your Celtic swirls before appliquéing them to your background. What a marvelous idea!

I am thrilled to have Bended Bias Appliqué in my library and am eagerly looking forward to the release of Linda's new book "Quilted Fairie Tales."
