I'm 5'10" tall and sit in a high-seat position in a wide kayak (the Jackson Kayak Big Tuna). After using this paddle, I am kicking myself for not buying it sooner.

I used sizing charts to pick out my previous paddle. Do not use a sizing chart to pick out your next paddle! Yes, you should consider your height and use the chart for guidance, but you should also consider the height you sit above the water and the width of your kayak.

For me, I considered only the 250 cm and 260 cm lengths of this paddle. Because my kayak catches a lot of wind and because I sit in a high seat position, I wanted the ability to perform low angle paddle strokes and still get my boat moving.

The first time out on a stream in Alabama, it was a windy day with winds consistently over 10 miles per hour with gusts up to 20 miles per hour. I used low angle paddle strokes to cut down on the wind hitting me and my paddle and I got more strokes per minute. Had I had the 250 cm paddle, I would have caught more wind because I would have had to use a higher angle stroke to grab some water.

So, the 260 cm length is a major selling point.

Weight was another major selling point. This thing feels as light as my 230 cm paddle which was am excellent lightweight paddle. The carbon shaft on the Bending Branches Angler Pro makes this thing so lightweight. On that windy day out on the stream, we had to paddle for about an hour at the end of the day to get to our takeout. I, a small guy, paddled this big 260 cm paddle for about an hour and was so thankful that this thing didn't weigh more. It is good to know I have a lightweight paddle full of capability.

The Sea Green color is great for high visibility.
