This review is from: Beneath the Fault Line: The Popular and Legal Culture of Divorce in Twentieth-Century America (Hardcover)
I received this book promptly and it was brand new. As far as the content of this book is concerned...(yawn) that's another matter. The author Herbie Difonzio, has written this entire book as if it was a long-winded political science paper. Lots of unnecessary words with unnessary suffixes (-isms, and izations abound). Herbie Difonzo may be many things, but a writer is not one of them. And a result of his dry, mediocre, and long-winded writing, the concepts are muddled (which is a shame, because it is potentially interesting subject matter). You will also get a kick out of his poorly used metaphors 'therapeutic armistice' (what a hack)..yeech. Regardless of context, that's wind baggery at its finest. Other gems include: categorical universe, unrebuttable barometer, etc. If you like big words strung together nonsensically, then this book is for you, or if you are a complete bore and you constantly deal with numbers and have poor social and verbal skills...again this piece of crap book is for you. Other uses for this book: coaster, doorstop, chew toy for your dog, and to fill up your garbage can.
