Takes you to another place,

This review is from: Beneath the Icy Floe, Vol. 5: A Projekt Sampler (Audio CD)
This album is beautiful, etheareal, and lush. Lots of heavenly vocals and music. Some tracks echo a Dead Can Dance feel combining ethnic and ambient beats. There's a few tracks that loses a little of the albums feel but over all a great addition to a music collection.

This review is from: Beneath the Icy Floe, Vol. 5: A Projekt Sampler (Audio CD)
"Beneath the Icy Floe, Vol.5" was my first introduction to Projekt Records and to artists such as Lycia and (my personal fave) Black Tape for a Blue Girl. I bought this cd a few years ago when I found a used copy in the cd bins. I was just rediscovering goth music and thought this would be the ideal cd. I just re-discovered the cd all over again last night when I was digging through my immense cd collection. Why I have discarded this cd aside is beyond me. "Beneath the Icy Floe vol.5" is the perfect introduction to ethereal goth music. The music is absolutely gorgeous. Over the years since I have bought this compilation, I have become more familiar with a few of the artists on Projekt Records, namely Voltaire, Android Lust, Lycia, and of course Black Tape For a Blue Girl. This cd was my first time I heard of Arcanta, Thanatos, Attrition, Love Spirals Downwards, The Sleep of Reason, Bleak, Lovesliecrushing, Soul Whirling, Somewhere, and Vidna Obmana. All the songs by those artists are quite good to say the very least. Their haunting melodies sends chills down my spine. I particularly enjoyed the songs by Lycia ("Drifting"), Love Spirals Downwards ("el Pedregal"), Arcanta ("Awake as if From Slumber"), and Black Tape For a Blue Girl ("Our Future Imagined"). After listening to "Beneath the Icy Floe vol.5", I decided to put this with the cds that I do listen tto. I forgot just how good this cd was and still is for this goth fan.
