This review is from: Beneath The Surface: A Lake George Mystery (Paperback)
Beneath the Surface is a delightful, suspenseful murder mystery set in "Emerald Point", New York, a village near historic Lake George. Ms. White utilizes the history and geography of the region to enhance the plot of the book. The thirtysomething heroine, Loren Graham, mayor of Emerald Point, discovers a body during a morning jog along the Lake and from there becomes involved in more crime and politics. Woven throughout are references to the French and Indian War as it relates to the Lake George region and the Lake itself. In addition to being a good read in and of itself, Beneath the Surface made me want to race right out and learn more about the history of Lake George. Ms. White's first Lake George Mystery, An Affinity for Murder, uses artist Georgia O'Keeffe's summer stays in Lake George to weave a suspenseful murder mystery.
If you would like to be entertained and learn a bit about this region in the bargain, read Beneath the Surface. I can't wait for Ms. White's next Lake George Mystery.
