Book Description

Elyssa Calhoun Montgomery had been willing to do anything to keep her father from debt, including following her new husband to the Caribbean-–dressed as a lad. But she never dreamed she’d become widowed so quickly, or that she’d come face to face with a fearsome pirate who expects her to fight like a man. Captured and her identity exposed, she doesn’t know what’s worse, being locked alone in a pirate captain’s quarters or experiencing an unsettling attraction toward him.

Captain Bran Blackthorn has grown weary of the pirating trade and seeks a King’s Pardon for his crew. Unfortunately, the man who could sign a reprieve, his half-brother Governor Flynn, would rather see him dead. When the gods—or the devil—bestows an angel to his spoils, he sees an opportunity to force a pardon with her ransom. Never mind his beautiful pawn has bewitched him, filling him with a desire to press his body against hers, capture her mouth in a searing kiss, and brand her as his own.

But when Bran’s enemies seek vengeance, Elyssa becomes entangled in their deadly game and Bran faces the gallows. Can they cheat death and save each other? Or will they be dragged...

5.0 out of 5 stars I didn't want it to end!!! February 12, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition
This book is packed with adventure, sensual tension that had me sweating, conflict, danger, an independent, fiery heroine and a HOT HOT HOT HOT HOT, mega-alpha male, pirate hero. I WANT to be Bran's girl! I found this story to be emotionally engaging and the ending satisfying, my only regret was that I couldn't keep on reading. I fell in love with Elyssa and Bran. A wonderfully written tale that will not dissapoint!!!! Well done!

5.0 out of 5 stars One All the Ladies Should Read April 11, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Before I start, I want to verify that this book doesn't really go with the whole 'pirate' idea: yes, they are pirates but they are kind, fair and don't kill the innocent and there is probly one fighting scene. Basically, this book really is a chick flick in writing. With that being said, I loved it lol. It was a fun and romantic read that I wish lasted longer. Once everyone finds out Elyssa is indeed a women, it starts to get interesting and Elyssa and Captain Bran start the 'cat and mouse' game. I loved reading it and look forward to reading more from Mrs. Weber.

5.0 out of 5 stars Hot and Fun!! September 9, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Let me say that I have loved this whole series! I am not sure how this book fits in because the characters aren't connected as far as I could tell but I LOVED it! The story is great. Even for a novella it kept my attention and didn't leave me feeling like I missed out on anything. Truly a great read.

Elyssa is newly widowed and on a ship under the pretense of being a man. She finds herself on Bran's pirate ship and once her true identity is discovered he has ways that she can make herself helpful while she is stuck on the ship. The sexual tension is written very nicely and the whole book is amazing.

Definitely worth a read I would highly recommend!

5.0 out of 5 stars ONE HUNDRED STARS!!!!! August 18, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
What more can I say about this heartwarming, swashbuckling adventure! I love pirate stories yet the major publishers seem to shun them in favor of Regencies. Thank goodness, Jennifer Bray-Weber came along. How refreshing to have a book that holds my attention and offers a true story of love and sacrifice.

3.0 out of 5 stars It was OK, April 30, 2014

Good, but predictable.I thought Captain Blackthorn was boring, and it seemed his character never fully developed and the ending anti-climatic.
