This Saint Benedict crucifix honors the patron saint of Europe and of students. The crucifix is solid wood with a pewter corpus and pewter St. Benedict medal. The medal is double sided with one side showing St. Benedict holding the Holy Rule in his left hand and a cross in his right. There is a raven on one side of him and a cup on the other side. The other side of the medal shows a cross with the letters CSSML which is Latin for May the Holy Cross be my Light. On the horizontal bar are the initials NDSMD which stands for the Latin phrase, Let not the dragon be my overload. On the inside angles of the cross are the initials, CSPB for the Cross of the Holy Father Benedict. Around the outer perimeter are the initials VRSNSMV for Begone Satan, do not suggest to me thy vanities. and the initials SMQLIVB for Evil are the things thou profferest, drink thou thy own poison.
