This 'Benedictus' sampler of pieces of Masses written by everyone from Tallis, Dufay, Bach (four), Mozart (2), Handel, Verdi, and Brahams is collected from 15 other labels in the Naxos catalogue. This may seem to make it of little value, until you start to realize how it may be used to compare how this very important part of the Mass was musically interpreted by the very best practitioners of liturgical music. Even if you have recordings of all these works, this omnibus CD is useful as an educational tool or method for evaluating other interpretations of the Benedictus.

This is one of a five disc series and I listen to them frequently when driving, illustrating, or unwinding. Fantastic. Highly recommended from my perspective and definately a great value.
