4.0 out of 5 stars Wonderful after a second try!
Like some others mentioned, I was a little confused and disappointed when I followed the directions to apply Dr Feelgood OVER my makeup. (I seriously wonder if that's a misprint?) It mattified my face, but didn't do anything for the appearance of my pores and it wiped off my blush.

So then I tried it again, putting it on first, before anything else and...

2.0 out of 5 stars feels great but there is a catch
This product really made my face feel soft and smooth, but it made my face break out (despite what the woman at the benefit counter told me). I have always had a perfect complextion, but after I started using this product, my skin began to break out. After I stopped using the product, my skin returned to normal.

If you have skin that is prone to break out, I...

Like some others mentioned, I was a little confused and disappointed when I followed the directions to apply Dr Feelgood OVER my makeup. (I seriously wonder if that's a misprint?) It mattified my face, but didn't do anything for the appearance of my pores and it wiped off my blush.

So then I tried it again, putting it on first, before anything else and VOILA! I LOVE this stuff. I have huge pores, and with a little smudge off this over my cheeks, they completely disappear.

I have combination skin, and it's been getting drier on my cheeks, the older I get. Even using this over dry skin, I had no problems.

So the only reason I gave this a 4 instead of a 5 is that it doesn't work well with the "dewy" look. It's very, very matte. (But I'll happily make the sacrifice to make my pores disappear!)

I think the price is fine - the stuff lasts forever and it isn't a drugstore brand, after all. All makeup and products from companies like this cost a bit more. I used to carry it in my bag all day and then I realized that there's no point - I only need to put it on once in the morning and it lasts all day.

As for the controversial smell - I love it, I think it smells fresh and clean and slightly lemon-y, and the packaging is terribly cute.

5.0 out of 5 stars Sure Does Feel Good, January 17, 2005
This review is from: Benefit Cosmetics Dr. Feelgood (Misc.)
I loved the packaging and bought this, got it home and wasn't quite sure what it was for. (That's how much of a beauty product addict I am!). I put it on and it was like no other product. It really did feel good, turning skin to satin. It just smoothed over everything and I couldn't stop touching my face. It can be used alone or as a kind of face primer. If you're into tactile sensations this is a face product for you. Another fun product from Benefit.

4.0 out of 5 stars Takes some getting used to... BUT a great product, January 25, 2006

I have found that this product essentially does what it claims to do... Leaves you with a flawless complexion. Minimizes pores and mattifies, REALLY!!!! It smells fine to me. It keeps your skin looking great UNDER makeup and provides a great base. Over makeup, it tones it down if you had an "ooops, too much blush!" moment. Only reason it doesn't get 5 stars is that it feels somewhat slimy to the touch... but looks beautiful!

5.0 out of 5 stars Pleasing to the touch., February 15, 2008
This review is from: Benefit Cosmetics Dr. Feelgood (Misc.)
I really love this product, but I don't ever wear make-up and even this is a once in a while thing. Regardless, I just bought my second one, it lasts a long time, I was heartbroken when I ran out. It does everything it says, it looks natural and feels great. After a while of using it your skin feels softer because of the Vit E and C I guess. If you usually wear a lot of make-up this isn't really for you, because it doesn't do much and is pretty expensive. I recommend it for men, I have some effeminate male friends who wear it everyday. It tones down subtle redness and does matte.

*Tips*:
Less is more, too much makes you slimy.
Change the sponge frequently, reusing the same part of the sponge gets a little gross. Oil and dirt from old applications goes back on your face.
Wash sponge gently with soap and water after every use, extend the life of your sponge.
Use under make-up and for quick touch-ups through out the day.
Blot on then smooth, don't smear on.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Real Beauty SECRET, November 27, 2010
By
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
I'm shocked by all the bad reviews of this product but I'm mucho biased. I ADORE this product and will keep this as my personal and not-so-secret-anymore beauty tip until the day I die. In fact, I want them to use this on my face for my wake, unless I decide to become cremated.

All morbidity aside, if there is something the cosmetics industry has done right - it's Dr. Feelgood. Ever since my friend introduced this product to me I've been hooked. At first I only used this on my skin on rare special occasions, until one day I realized it actually did "benefit" my skin unlike most cosmetics products. I now use this daily because I've seen how it protects my skin from pollution and keeps the fine lines at bay. (Believe me, I know how this sounds - way too good to be true.) But hey, if the sun is going to bear down on my face, whether for a moment or a full-on beach day, and try to dry it out and create new little wrinkles, I want this stuff on my face as a layer of protection to slow time. The instruction says to go "over" makeup, but I strongly disagree. I've tried it every which way and have found that it works BEST when over moisturization/sunscreen and UNDER my makeup. Sounds like a whole heck of crap on your face, but for some reason it works on my complexion and doesn't look heavy. You should know that this is NOT a moisturizer (I read a complaint or two that this makes your skin dry) which is why moisturizer should go on before you "seal" your skin with this stuff.

I have sensitive skin and damaged enlarged pores and this stuff doesn't break me out. It's amazing. My pores really do look smaller. As far as scent goes, I guess people don't like the smell of fresh with a hint of lemon? There's definitely a scent of waxiness but it's far from offending, IMHO. This product allows me to go out without makeup. Dr. Feelgood's specialty is definitely the nude face/au naturale look.

I admit, I refrained from writing an official review on this product because I wanted to keep my awesome results to myself, but my sense of duty to pay this beauty tip forward as my friend did to me kept nagging at me. I need to keep up the good mojo if I want to continue hearing about beauty secrets that work!

I absolutely love this product. I suffer from oily skin and this has been the only thing that allows me to stay oil-free all day. I love the smell, texture and weight of the product.

5.0 out of 5 stars Works really well, December 27, 2006
This review is from: Benefit Cosmetics Dr. Feelgood (Misc.)
This worked out really well. I don't agree with one of the reviewes in regards to this product having an offensive smell.1 Tips is when using it, is don't put it over the makeup but under it as you might find out as I did that your foundation might come off.
I put it on first and could feel the difference in a nano secound. I later applied my foundation and it all worked out beautifly. My skin felt like satin. I also tried it alone , but would suggest using a power or a foundation if you want full coverage.

4.0 out of 5 stars Dr. Feelgood, April 3, 2006

I was a bit hesitant to try this product because it looked thick in its tin (like a lip balm) and I thought for sure it would make my skin break out. Well I received a deluxe sample in a Sephora order and boy was I wrong! This smooths my skin and it does not feel like there is anything on my face. My foundation just glides on over this. This also does not make my skin break out! If you are looking for a face primer this does the job. And your skin does feel good!
