A Wilhelm Scream has five different releases over the eight years theyve been together. The latest, "Benefits Of Thinking Out Loud," takes us into their own world of confusion, angst, sorrow, loss, disillusionment, and of course, alcohol. The bands approach to writing their songs is complex, involving layers upon layers of punk sensibility turned upside down and inside out, coated with metal alloy, and then driven into your skull with a chisel and hammer. And thats just the opening chord of the album. Ouch!
On the lighter side of the spectrum is the bands ability to communicate with their audience through approachable lyrical content. They take pure emotions and shrivel them up in their own brand of narcotic sensationalism. A Wilhelm Screams live show backs up their stereophonic dominance; only the sound in this case is in your face and pounding your head on a steel-spiked table. The band ignites the crowd with their raucous style and vigor, leaving them overwhelmed and still wanting more. The band has been on five East Coast tours in the past twp years, and is only going to go even further with this, their best effort to date. --This text refers to an out of print or unavailable edition of this title.

The Funniest Thing I Ever Heard,
This review is from: Benefits of Thinking Out Loud (Audio CD)
I'm sorry to say, but this band makes me laugh. It's not that the music is bad or embarassing, but I can't help myself. Its just funny. For example, an actual line from A Chapter of Accidents: I don't want to f--k you, I just want to hold you.
Now, despite the ongoing hilarity, I found myself actually listening to the music. The lead singer has a menacing grunt for a voice, but the background singer(s) have really annoying nasal whines. The music is hard and the lyrics are even better. Now besides intentionally making you laugh with the veryclever lyrics, this band also tackles raw feelings. A Month Of Sundays surprised me by being emotionally powerful, as the singer belts out the line "There's only you." It is so heartfelt and strong. The thing is, you can't fail by checking out this band. Why? One of two things will happen: 1. You will find some of the songs as funny as I think they are, and you'll catch a good laugh. OR 2. You'll really like the hardcoreness (is that a word?) of this album.
