Sad that no one knows this album, I ran across it entirely by accident. Later, My brother used to listen to Afro Pop Worldwide and collected some 300 African Pop albums alone. Some of them are just tremendous. This is sort of like the Franco/Fela beat steeled on the first four strings of the guitar. A melodic groove similar to Zimbabwe roots rock guitar party album by Earthworks (quite fine). I believe I could use Soukous here, can't I?
I have over 1000 CD's of my own, this is among my top twenty. Do you know the singular feeling of discovering Love--the self titled album? Give that precious gift of epiphany to this house rock album of--I am guessing in a world of technical terms--triads.
Alright, screw the esoterics. If you like guitar, and your mind can handle a little expansion, won't this make your red eyes blue... It GROOVES. It's my dream to play like this. If you think Paul Simon ever made an African rythymn album, you'll probably feel as out of place as the Unabomber in Harlem listening to this guy. Forget basketball, and keep your stiff upper lip.
When you're ready to party, slip this album on and crank it.
btw, For the lighter moods of intricate guitar fingerpicking, you'd better check out D'Gary, he did for Madagascar what Kottke did for Geese Afflatus.
