It smells like menthol vapor rub, but the odor quickly dissipates.

I am using it for my back and shoulder pain now, and I am feeling so much better in the morning now, much less stiff and pain in those areas.

I have a repetitive motion/strain injury in my lower leg, and have been using ice and topical analgesics - Ultra Strength Bengay and Tiger Balm - as part of the treatment. So when I saw an ad for this product, I knew I had to try it.

I love that this product *doesn't* feature "the tingle lets you know it's working" vibe with the two other creams, and also doesn't have a strong aroma. The sensation is just of general cooling - as a review on a different site noted, it's like having a cooling pack wrapped around your injury or ache. When you apply it out of the freezer, it's pleasantly cold instead of alarmingly so. And it's wonderful at cutting through the aches - they just fade away.

I am knocking off a star for two reasons, though:

1) The price. It's more expensive than Tiger Balm (where a little goes a long way), and almost twice the price of Ultra Strength Bengay. You obviously will want to use this sparingly, but the roll-on type of applicator means you may use more than you might like. And if you don't remember to roll the applicator dial back before throwing it back in the freezer, it oozes out on its own from expansion, so there is a potential for waste.

2) It does leave kind of a thin crust of a menthol-blue crud on your skin unless you spread it super-thin. (At least it did for me.)

Overall, though? Awesome product. It feels so wonderful and it's nice not to reek of menthol fumes. It's a good choice when you want a topical pain relief cream of some form that doesn't reek or tingle.

This was a great price for this! I swear the Ralph's I compared this to was charging the same thing for 2 ounces, not 4!

I could be imagining things ;) Anyway, I love to have some Ben Gay around for unexpected soreness.... I'd finally gotten my butt to the gym after a pretty sedentary life fixing computers.... and those first two weeks with the trainer put me in all kinds of pain. Between some slow deep stretching, a lot of creaking and groaning, and a regular slather of Ben Gay, I got through it ;)

Great staple for the house... you might not need it for a year, but when you're in pain, easier to reach for the medicine cabinet than get to the store!

This product is selling itself as just as good as what you can get at the chiropractor's offic. I don't agree with that. I much prefer Biofreeze. I have fibromyalgia and use a lot of these products, and in my opinion this was just like regualr Ben Gay only in gel form. Biofreeze cost a bit more but is definately better at easing my pain. This also has the scent of Ben Gay and I just don't like the overpowering odor. I gave it three stars because it is a good product. I just don't think it compares to Biofreeze.

So much better than icy-hot. Goes on easier and smell is not bad and goes away quickly-- as does the pain!! Great product and I would suggest anyone with arthritis or muscle sprains should always have it handy.

I had a wrist injury and a knee injury. Tried several creams and gels including Aspercreme, Capasin and other products. Even tried original and extra strength Ben Gay with their lingering odor.

This freezer stored, vanishing scent product with built in applicator provided excellent relief. The BEST! (Even better than the new Ben Gay cold gel with no applicator.)

I have a knee injury that hurts most of the time and OTC pain relievers just take the edge off. I ordered the BenGay 0 degrees a few days ago and used it before going to bed the last couple nights. The cooling effect is pleasant and not like others that tend to "burn". By the time the cooling sensation goes away (along with the smell which isn't at all overpowering), my knee pain and ache is virtually gone. I usually wake up during the night due to the ache, but this seems to keep it at bay until morning. I am waiting my appointment to the Orthopedic surgeon and this is definately helping me get there. I would highly recommend this for aches and pains. Oh, as for the mess, yes, you have to manage the gel applicator just like you do other products dispensed this way. I think the secret is to keep it in the freezer when not applying it because it tends to get runny when at room temperature but the added cold of the freezer makes it feel that much better going on.

This product is great for occasional muscle aches and pains experienced in everyday life by active sportsmen or people who live sedentary lifestyles. Have you ever gotten out of bed with a kinked neck or a sore back? Then this product is for you. The soothing cream soaks in clean, warms up fast and lasts for hours, giving immediate relief to your sore muscles and joints. The eye opening fragrance is nice and the deep heating sensation is very relaxing.

I love gardening, but it's really hard on the body. The combination of kneeling and bending and doing that over and over for a few
hours causes a lot of sore joints. I tried the BENGAY cold therapy and it gave me pretty quick cooling relief. The old BENGAY scent
was strong and stayed with you until you washed it off. The scent from this product faded pretty quickly! It did take some of the
soreness away and I felt better after using it and I will use this product again.
