Many others online were sure it was the Centerpoint Scope on the gun that was at issue.

Where do I begin?.....

Having shot springer pellet rifles since I was old enough to point one higher than my toes, I believe I can give a fair critique to the Jim Shockey .22 nitro piston rifle from Crosman. First off, be it known that I purchased mine at Cabela's. (Whose customer service is great btw) Got it home and was fairly impressed with the fit and finish. Couldn't wait to snap off a few Crosman Premier .22 Domed Pellets. (some of the best for the money anywhere).

I was unphased by the relative inaccuracy of the rifle at first, as Crosman indicates in their user manual that 250 rounds or so are required to 'break in' the gun. Well, after many shots, it became clear that if anything, the rifle was LOSING accuracy. (as if it had any to start with) The gun had a hard time hitting paper at 20 feet much less 20 yards. As I began to examine the rifle more closely, and after reading enough complaints online to realize that this 'offering' by Crosman should absolutely be RECALLED, I decided to get mine back to Cabela's instead of sending it back to Crosman, (ON MY DIME) for "repair".

Many others online were sure it was the Centerpoint Scope on the gun that was at issue. On mine, after much trial and error, and close visual analysis during firing, It was determined by a friend of mine who also shot the gun that the barrel had too much play after being cocked. Sure enough, he was right. One could feel the play in the barrel after the gun was cocked. Of course, I am far from alone in experiencing these problems. Crosman should, in my opinion, be truly ashamed for importing these quality control fiascos. There is enough play in the break barrel linkages to cause WAY too much barrel movement at firing.

Can't say enough about how much I like this gun. Beautifully made and easy to site in and packs the wallop I was hoping for when I bought it. Can't wait to get past the break-in period as it gets quieter. It already barely makes a noise worth worrying about. There is barely a recoil and the trigger is sweet. Not sure I'm even going to adjust it at all. If you are thinking about purchasing this air rifle, don't hesitate. You will not be disappointed.

Awesome over all, love everything about it. Scope is good, fits comfortable against shoulder. Is accurate with heavier pellet. I'm having a lot of fun plinking with this break-barrel!

I spent the extra $$$ to avoid the poor quality products. But after less than 400 rounds I have to recognize that this rifle is of poor quality! At 50 ft my rifle has about 1 ft accuracy. I can feel up and down play at the barrel. At first I thought that the hinge mechanism was responsible for the barrel play. But looking close I found that after cocking the barrel locks in place with a spring pushed pin that is called "Alive Jam". On my rifle this pin has the up-and-down play and there is no way to adjust it or take it out and replace it. I agree with the other reviewers that suggested this model (Amazon model !!!) should be recalled - at no cost to the buyers - and be replaced with a reliable quality product. Sorry for Jim Shockey that he gave his name for this rifle.

I purchased my Benjamin Genesis .22 from wall mart and took it home up to my room to shoot(with a pellet trap) and for the first 15 shots it did ok then the gun went to heck the barrel cocked but when you go to snap it back strate it sounded like something sloshing inside, after the 15 shots it started throwing pellets a few inches low but I was already out of adjustment on there 3-9x32 scope and then it started shooting several inches high then it started shooting to the left and right, what the hell, I even tried adjusting the trigger pull and that didn't help and the cheek rest likes to let its self down with little pressure on it, its front heavy, I was shooting Crossman .22 hollow points at 8ft from the target and that was what was happening to me, guess I'm going back to my GAMO BIG CAT .177 just going to put a high power mil dot scope on the big cat and call it good, I WAS under the impression that Benjamin air rifles were actually worth the money but this one is not, and the big cat .177 has been with me everywhere for the last 5yrs and I wanted something with a little more punch, but $200 for 15 good shots yea right " IT LOOKS NICE AND COOL AND FEELS GOOD BUT THATS WORTHLESS WITHOUT ACCURACY" why do you make this cheap a-- gun when you make so many other nice ones, from what I hear no one quote me :) really disappointing that I have a really nice looking hunk of S*** on my bed right now, I guess I could use it as a club or door stop or just go and throw it in the creek and say good riddance, at 30yds for example you go to shoot your target and shoot the person next to you's target :( going back for refund on my next day off, will never buy a Benjamin air rifle/pistol Benjamin anything ever again I might as well throw rocks :( POS rifle DAMN

I really like this rifle, it's got the knock down power I wanted . Accuracy took awhile didn't break in til after about 800 shots so far I like the Crossman domed hollow point for this gun, accurate enough to take out crows at 50 yards, and inexpensive to shoot, so you can use them for target practice too. It's a long gun but not too heavy. I gave this 4 stars because I can cut twine at 60 ft with other gun, but it's only .177. And I get strays every once in awhile, of course that could be me or the ammo too. I would recommend this rifle to anyone who want the knock down power of .22 ,has patients for the break in period, and that doesn't want to pay $500 for a air rifle. Happy hunting.
