V-Disc recordings in best ever sound, January 7, 2008
This review is from: Benny Goodman and His Orchestra: 1945-1946 (Audio CD)
This inexpensive release consists of V-Disc recordings. The first two tracks purport to be from October, 1945, the rest from January 1946. The sound is the best I've heard with absolutely minimal stereo "width" added (hardly noticeable) and no surface noise. The January tracks offer studio chatter in between tracks not heard on other releases, and all tracks omit the typical V-Disc spoken intro. For anyone searching for clean versions of these tracks, this is a must have!
Tracks 1 & 2 personnel: Benny Goodman: Clarinet, Teddy Wilson: Piano, Red Norvo: Vibes, Sid Weiss: Bass, Morey Feld: Drums. New York 10/45
Tracks 3-9: Trio and Quartet
Track 10: Orchestra
