Benriner Turning Slicer....this design offers even more reliability!,
By Charw (Massachusetts, USA) - See all my reviews WARNING: handle blades with care....they are extremely sharp! You can also expect to replace your blades at some point during the lifetime of your Benriner, because inevitably they will become dull. Replacement blades are available on quite a few websites (do you're homework because I can't list them here) I've seen the complete set listed for approximately fourteen dollars. I agree with those who say this item is pricey and compared to the numerous poorly made spiral slicers on the market today, it certainly is. However, because of the level of reliability that you get with the Benriner its well worth every penny! Just be sure to shop around to make sure you're getting the best price. Benriner Turning slicer works perfectly,
This review is from: Benriner Turning Slicer (Kitchen)
I'm a chef. I bought one of these many years ago. Of course it was a much older model and shape. The first one was ver difficult to work. But this model is wonderful. It does everything it says it will do. Love this amchine..pricey but much cheaper through amazon than a store.

May be addictive....,
This review is from: Benriner Turning Slicer (Kitchen)
My partner has been watching me suspiciously since I got this benriner. And who could blame him? I've turned every appropriately-textured and shaped vegetable in the fridge into gorgeous spirals of cucumbers, turnips, onions, carrots, and radishes, and then gone to the store for more. It's a food tool made of decent plastic, and watch out for the sharp blades, but it works really well. Can't imagine how I cooked without this!

A bit messy, but a Fantastic Tool!,

Makes absolutely beautiful curly threads (of different widths using the various extra blades) from vegetables like beets and potatoes. Simple to use and clean. It can be a bit messy to use -- I recommend putting it on a cutting board because the juice from vegetables like carrots may run a bit.

Wedding present pruchased from Amazon wedding registry.,

I bought this slicer for my daughter as a wedding present. I would never have thought of this product but it was on their gift registry and when I saw it I knew it was just perfect for them since they are vegetarians and love cooking and food preparation. After their first use of it she sent me an email describing their dinner. This is her description- the "pasta" is sprial cut raw zuccini (using the turning slicer...) and uncooked pasta sauce (made with the food mill) - a great summer meal - She also attached a picture of the meal and the "pasta" is beautiful, a really lucious green striped linguini. She is very enthusiastic about the slicer and told me it is fun and easy to use.

As soon as I opened it I washed and put it away. Always wash so when I'm ready to use the first cleaning is not an issue.
Anyway I ended up using it the next day to slice my zucchini and I was excited to see my nice bowl of spiral zucchini... doing live/raw food for the next 4 months. The only set back was having to stabilize it while using it, I think the bottom is missing the rubber pieces... so I'll contact the seller and see what happens.

As if it were possible, I've actually found another spiral slicer that I love even more! The Benriner Turning Slicer is very similar to the Benriner Cook's Helper, you'll often find this higher end model in restaurants. Benriner Spiral Slicers are ALL extremely reliable each of them offering true versatility and durability. These models are made of ABS and Nylon reinforced resin, this spiral slicer is here to stay! Just crank and churn with the option of cutting continuous strings, strips or curly strands with four different blades to choose from (1) Flat edged blade, and (3) Tooth edged blades (Coarse, Medium and Fine) This is all you'll need to get you're creative juices flowing. You can create beautiful salads, elegant garnishes and main courses, if you're a Raw Foodist. The famous Spaghetti type strands that all raw food diets long for, using yellow squash and Zucchini turn into beautiful replicas of their wheat counterparts. Want to experiment with super thin slices of cucumbers, potatoes, carrots, bell pepper and onions etc; be my guest because you can't go wrong! Everything turns out beautifully every single time. Cleaning is also a snap, just use soapy water to wash, rinse well and dry...that's it!

I very carefully chose the Benringer Turning Slicer, but recieved the Benringer Home Helper. When I complained, I was asked to send an email so that I could be forwarded a postal sticker to return the incorrect item. When they realised that I was in New Zealand, they asked me to keep the Benringer Helper and told me they would refund my postage as it was too expensive for them to exchange it. I am disappointed with the Beringer Helper, because it is not what I ordered or wanted. I hope I'll feel differently about it later. I learned a lesson about buying from overseas, I won't be doing it again.

This is a very cheap, poorly made, difficult to work, product. They must be laughing all the way to the bank.
Don't waste your hard earned money. |
