I've been looking for a set of cork placemats with a rooster design to replace some I'd gotten long ago. They were hard to find so I was quite interested in these and decided to try them. They're wonderful. They are good quality and the design is much more colorful than the pictures showed. I'm very pleased and would order these again.

The top layer is a simple plastic film that bubbles and peels back around the edges after being wiped a few times or if you spill liquid - which is impossible to prevent on a daily used dinner table. I you remove that layer once it starts peeling by itself, what you have left is some kind of cardboard. I sprayed it with a coat of protective varnish, but the placemats still got totally damaged. They are fine, vibrant and beautiful to use as mere decoration - but get damaged if you actually use them for what they are supposed to be used!
