Matchbox Twenty is an incredible band, vastly underrated by the rock critics and the public alike. 1.0 out of 5 stars Bland as they wanna ba
What exactly are Matchbox 20? Are they a rock band? Well none of their recorded material particuarly rocks, perhaps at one point they conceived their songs as rock n'roll, but they've been so probed and prodded in production so that they can be played on commercial radio that they hardly resemble rock at all. Are their songs ballads? Well they're almost too fast and...

Matchbox Twenty is an incredible band, vastly underrated by the rock critics and the public alike. As their new album, "Mad Season", shows, they have a lot more potential than they are credited for and the song "Bent" really makes you feel it. It's one of these great pop/rock songs that could get stuck in your head for days (although it's still not my favorite on "Mad Season"). The B-Side is the acoustic version of their hit "Push" that was previously available on the "3 am" import single and on an import 2XCD version of "Yourself Or Someone Like You". While it is CALLED an "acoustic" version of "Push", it is really a completely new studio mix of the song, with new vocal patterns and instrumental arrangements. Any and all Matchbox Twenty fans must have this one, as the acoustic "Push" is probably the best B-Side the band has put out this far. And of course for those of you who don't own "Mad Season" and just want "Bent" this is a good buy as well. Get this single and enjoy it!

5.0 out of 5 stars Matchbox Twenty ..One more Brilliant piece of music., July 21, 2000

Drive your car in the 6th gear..and drive like a madman in the begining..then cool off in the 3rd gear suddenly still enjoying the pleasure of driving. Thats what BENT is all about it. The single starts off with a great BANG..and then takes turn to the mellow side...keeping the pace and then picking up gradually..giving delightful pleasure to the listener. The lyrics are emotionaly deep and very hurting. Some people might even visualise their life events when they listen to the song. Music is brilliantly composed by the band...4 years of absence really brought in some more quality music from them. Im sure the album too will be brilliantly composed and written. Upon listening to the song..im sure people will have mixed reactions to it ..some might cry..some might smile..some may even go..WOW. Bent is the begining of a new chapter of Matchbox Twenty's carrer. Songs like these which are true from the heart , and a previously hit singles and an album , have sure made matchbox twenty a worldwide recognised band who certainly do deserve a lot of appreciation. Buy the sing " Bent "..hear it..and fall in love with the band. Im sure no one can single your life story like they do.

5.0 out of 5 stars BUY IT NOW!!!!!, April 1, 2002
This review is from: Bent / Push (Audio CD)
When I first heard this song (Bent) on the radio I knew I had to get the single. I'm not the biggest fan of Matchbox Twenty but I can appreciate their music. The single is like any other single you can get at this price: 2 songs. Those 2 songs are:

(1)Bent
(2)Push(acoustic)

The acoustic version of Push is great. Even to this day I play this cd. And if you never heard of the song, its a mixture of soft and hard rock in a ballad style. What got me into this song right away was the guitar at the beginning and at the end.

I was never really a fan of matchbox twenty...that is until I heard their song, "Bent"....and I absolutely fell in love with it. The lyrics themselves are sooo powerful. And the guitar solo in the middle is awesome. This is really a good song...one I think almost everyone can relate to at some point in their life. I think everyone should take four minutes and listen to this song at least once....it really says a lot!

Well, now I have the "Mad Season" CD, but before I went out and bought that, I got this Bent single. I had heard it on the radio, and it blew me away! Besides being a great piece of music with lots of intersting arrangements, its one of those songs you can listen to over and over again. Although I'm a bit tired of it now, the B-side (acoustic Push) is now one of my favorite songs. Being much more powerful yet mellow than the original push, it is an amazing song, and perhaps one of the best out there.

5.0 out of 5 stars Wow from the GD, September 24, 2000

What can I say. I don't feel like spending money on the imports, so I got this instead. Very, very good. Bent is a great, solid MBT song. Guitar driven with keyboards in the backround. The album version of push is the same without keyboards. The acoustic version isn't really an acoustic version. It's just replacing the electrics with acoustics, getting the whole band in the recording room, and taking the first try. It's very good. If you like MBT for its power-pop/rock side get this and YOSLY, there first CD. But if you love MBT get Mad Season and this U.S. single as a collector's item.

5.0 out of 5 stars Beautiful, August 13, 2000

Simply stated, that's all it is. I don't have the album, just the single, which I purchased after reading a story for which the lyrics to Bent were the inspiration. The opening is almost the same as the Verve's Come On, but after the initial riff it all changes. Very angsty, and bittersweet. The acoustic Push has all the beauty of the original, but in a more subdued, anguished manner. All in all, exceedingly excellent. Now I just have to pull enough money to get the album!

4.0 out of 5 stars Buy it for Push!, July 12, 2000
This review is from: Bent / Push (Audio CD)
Bent is a cool song, I admit. I really like it. But I bought this single because I heard the unplugged version on Push on the radio. This version is worth buying the single alone. It is a stripped down, slowed down version, with horns in the background. Any MB20 fan will have to have this song. Plus, you get Bent. What a deal

So I already have mad season, but I had to get this one because, hey, it's matchbox twenty. I cannot stop listening to Bent. I fell in love with it when I first heard it on the radio and have been freaking out and turning it up whenever I hear it. Even though it's "just a single," it's still excellent and worth the listen. Rob Thomas's vocals, as I am quickly learning, are gorgeous and sexy, and everyone in the band is just extraordinary.
