I love my Bentgo! I was getting tired of using ziplock bags (too much waste) as well as glass containers (too clunky) and mismatched plastic containers (well - okay. I realize that's just fine and functional, but I wanted something *sleek*, you know?). Hunting for Bento boxes online, I decided to go for the Bentgo as my first Bento to see if the Bento lifestyle worked for me.

The price point is phenomenal for the size and quality. Go ahead and do a Google search for Bento box providers and you'll see what I mean. I found that, for about this price, you could get big Bento boxes that weren't microwave or dishwasher safe, or you could get teeny Bento boxes made out of durable, food-safe plastics. Now you see why I picked the Bentgo - a decent sized Bento that is microwave, dishwasher, fridge, and freezer safe, as well as BPA-free for under $15! Wow!

Now for the Bentgo's performance. I LOVE this thing. I know some have mentioned they would like the size to be a little larger, but I have no qualms here. I normally put a leftover meal (i.e. chicken and rice something or other, pasta with a thick sauce, etc) in the lower compartment, with cold fruit and veggies in the top divided portion. I have also been able to pack a sandwich in the lower compartment if I cut it diagonally and situate the pieces so that they fit. I haven't had any situations where I wish I could pack more food in the Bentgo or anything like that. That's considering my usual lunchtime appetite, so YMMV. I'm not normally one to take salads for lunch, so I can't speak to how it works for salads, and that's where I have seen most people have issues with the Bentgo.

As far as the Bentgo's watertightness goes, I have not had any issues here, either - so far.

I've been using my Bentgo for a few days and, generally, it's great... nicely sized, cleans up easily, and works well in the microwave. The product's one weakness is that the containers are not leakprook (as noted in the product description). This prevents you from using it for things like soup, stews, fruits in liquid, etc. Fix this flaw and it would be perfect.

One other note, this is a new company and their website is still going through growing pains. There are a number of broken links and other issues. That said, their customer service does respond to emails pretty quickly.

I'm a teacher and so far I've used my Bentgo for lunch and for an after school snack. As someone who recently began to diet, I found Bentgo's three compartments helpful in keeping my portions reasonable without the need to over-eat. They also encourage me to eat a meal with more variety.

I use the larger container for a meat and veggies mix (steak, chicken, or pork with salad or steamed veggies) for lunch. The smaller, divided container is used for snacks: usually broccoli, carrots, fruit, nuts, or a sliced boiled egg.

My favorite part of Bentgo is the design. I've owned and used other Bento-style lunch boxes in the past, but Bentgo is the only one that has fit all my requirements: large compartments for lunch and snacks while compact enough to fit in my school bag, durable and tight fit, separate utensil storage, microwave safe, and stores within itself when I take it home (along with an endless stack of papers to grade). It's a bonus that it's also very affordable. I haven't seen any other lunch box that has as many qualities as Bentgo.

I would recommend it to colleagues, friends, and even students. If I were to provide a suggestion, I wish Bentgo had a small leak-proof container for dressings or sauces that could be stored within it. I've been using disposable plastic cups, but it would be nice to have something that matches the color and design of Bentgo.

Our whole family loves our Bentgo boxes. My 6 year old son loves them so much that he wants to use them for every single meal, every single day. I love the design and that they compact for easier storage. We don’t have a dish washer in our house so we really appreciate easy to wash dishes, which the Bentgo is. They fit plenty of food but are small enough to toss into a tote bag for easy travel. Our family is getting ready to move to Montreal on mission and will not have a car. We love the portability of these for taking on public transport or for walking. I will definitely recommend these boxes to my mommy friends and give them 5 stars!

I was tired of paying for lunch at my school so I decided to look for something easy and portable like this. I've been using it for few weeks and haven't had any problems.
It seems like all the poor reviews of this box are just because they didn't read the instructions or use common sense... or don't know how to pack a lunch.
It's big enough to pack a lunch that will last you until the afternoon (if you know what to put in it...). It's also small enough to not be too cumbersome, it stacks nicely and the plastic is sturdy enough not to worry about it breaking if you just toss it in your bag.
The utensils don't snap in or anything but once you close the thing they stay in there, no big deal.
If you don't want to risk warping it then just take the minute to hand-wash it.
