Retelling of a classic story in easy-to-understand language,
This review is from: Beowulf and the Dragon (Myths and Legends) (Library Binding)
The nice thing about this series of books (Beowulf and the Dragon An Anglo-Saxon Legend, The Bharunda Bird An East Indian Legend, Fire! An Aboriginal Myth, Kintu's Mistake An East African Myth, The Secret Name of Ra An Ancient Egyptian Myth, The Theft of Thor's Hammer A Viking Myth) is that they tell ancient stories in a way that is both interesting and understandable to prereaders and early readers. The illustrations are quite good also.
From the back cover: "Beowulf and the Dragon. Who will fight the dreadful dragon guarding his cave full of gold? Only the bravest of men will dare." "In the Myths and Legends series, young readers meet gods and goddesses, heroes, and fabled characters from around the world. These legendary figures are introduced in memorable stories of courage and cunning, folly, triumph, and revenge."
